I’m really enjoying STAR WARS: MAUL – SHADOW LORD so far. It’s yet another reminder of why writing a Star Wars tie-in novel remains near the top of my career wish list.

1/2 Because I've been posting photos of what characters in Sandman Slim look like people are asking me about Stark, so let me say for the millionth time: I will never tell you what Stark looks like. Make up your own Stark.
URGENT! The Massachusetts House just passed a "social media ban" that would force YOU to upload a government ID or submit to a face scan to post online. CALL YOUR STATE SENATORS! 978-485-4694

Fascists consume liberatory art, scramble the symbols, and spit out slop that mimics and undermines that art, while maintaining toxic and oppressive power structures. This is what GenAI is designed to do. It's not a coincidence that fascism and AI are on the rise at the same time.

Every year since 1994 crime has gone down and every year Americans think it is worse than last year which explains why rural MAGA grandmas think their favorite grandchild will be murdered if she moves to the city.
new from @tusk81.bsky.social and @yunao08.bsky.social:
"It bears repeating every Tax Day: our immigrant neighbors regardless of legal status are not only essential threads in the fabric of America, they make vast financial contributions that help sustain our communities."
State Sen. Sharif Street and State Rep. Chris Rabb are using a tactic called "redboxing" on their campaign sites, which convey messaging strategies and advertising solicitations aimed at super PACs.
Two bunnies sit on a wooden floor. The front bunny is white and brown, the second bunny is brown, peeking from behind.
This morning, I became the first New York City Mayor to visit Housing Court. And what I saw will stay with me for a long time. Families on the brink of losing their homes. Tenants navigating unsafe conditions, harassment, and uncertainty, searching for justice in an overwhelming system. Small property owners trying to keep up with their mortgage payments. I met with Chief Administrative Judge Joseph Zayas, New York City Administrative Judge Shahabuddeen Ally, and other members of the bench, and I walked through Resolution, HP, and NYCHA Parts. I spoke with people in intake, with legal service providers, and with the advocates who show up every day to stand beside New Yorkers who need support. Housing court is where the promises we make about dignity, stability and public excellence are tested in real time. In the months ahead, my team will work closely with the Chief Judge and the Chief Administrative Judge to confront the concerns we heard - directly from judges, tenants, landlords, legal service providers, and advocates.
Absolutely correct. The other side has vast resources & can do lots of things, some legal, some shady, some gross. What a journalist has to do has to be note-perfect & stand up in court. And every time I went down this road, I knew I could lose not just my career but my house, savings. Everything.
If you don’t know about this, you need to read up. It’s the single bloodiest massacre in the history of Reconstruction, and it was perpetrated to overthrow the results of an election. It was emblematic of the sabotage of Reconstruction. And SCOTUS nullified the prosecution of those responsible.
zackeryatlas 12h The degradation of society: 1. Celebrating the k!lling of a CEO 2. Cheering on warehouse arsons 3. Making heroes out of people who attempt political violence You can be outraged at the system and still not glorify violence. These aren't wins. This is a society losing its moral compass. [Coming from a liberal btw]
I don’t know how people keep forgetting that workers rights were entirely written in blood and the capital class had to be threatened with violence before they agreed to things like 8 hour working days and 2 day weekends.
Peter Magyar confirmed that Szijjarto, Orbán's FM, has barricaded himself with some of his closest colleagues and is shredding documents related to the sanctions on Russia any other evidence of treason.
Very true...
Watch out for ANYONE telling you not to vote "lesser of two evils" because those are the people who bitch the most and rarely vote, assuming they're even actual Americans. Every vote matters. Vote in November. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
Thirty percent of all hospitals in Oregon now refuse to provide lifesaving medical treatment to trans people. Not just gender affirming care to minors. They discriminate against ALL Trans people.
really good images of the model of NYC they made for the hudsucker proxy from an old issue of cinefex
This is the time for what? Individual. Achievement.
I think @mariadahvana.bsky.social has already solved this particular challenge, and done so with great style and impeccable scholarship.
And the answer is, “Bro!”
I shit you not.
To the doomers who keep saying Trump will rig the 2026 and 2028 elections: Do not concede in advance
You have no idea. I am that cat’s 24-hour concierge.
WANT.
Regret to inform everyone that Peter Magyar beat the world’s smartest illiberal populist in large measure by working incredibly hard for 2 straight years, meaning the rest of us are just going to have to get off our asses and do shit rather than just complaining.
He already got extra treats, and special extra lap time all day. We love to spoil our little fuzzy pals.
i will vote for any candidate who offers up this slogan
A blonde woman holds the sweetest gray-and-white cat, who nuzzles his fuzzy little head up against her chin because he clearly loves her.
My wife Kara holds our beloved gray-and-white cat Wilbur on his birthday. You can tell it’s his birthday by the silly yellow party hat on his furry head.
Once again it’s our cat Wilbur’s birthday! Today he turns 10 years old, and he’s as sweet (and bossy) as ever. He is, without a doubt, my wife’s soul-cat.
There are good lessons to learn about voting, organizing etc.
But I worry people will learn the wrong lesson about concessions. Orban conceded. Trump never will. We cannot get lulled into a false sense of security for 2026.
More tomorrow…
