We observed a 65% drop in global telnet traffic in 1 hour on Jan 14, settling into a sustained 59% reduction. 18 ASNs went silent, 5 countries disappeared, but cloud providers were unaffected.
Our analysis of 51.2M sessions points to backbone-level port 23 filtering by a Tier 1 transit provider.
I believe there is also an open Computer Science curriculum, that you could look at.
Hey, I am glad the posts helped you. I was quite busy recently. I will try to get back to it a little in the new year.
I went to university, so don't have too many other ressources. I used Overthewire and TryHackMe a lot. Also NoStarchPress books are really nice.
I am sooo ready for my holiday!

At least this wasn't at the end of the week, Friday at like 15 o'clock or something ๐
Yes, also feel the same about comments in the code.
Soo... Didn't get one in the second round either ๐ข
Now I am scrambling...
Yes, same. But being aware of it and assessing how important it actually is helps.
That was similar to my first, though.
I just want to not care or worry about what society thinks and do what makes me happy.
When they turn water off in my apartment complex, they do it from 8am to 4pm - every time I plan to do home office, of course ๐
So I know the struggle!
Tickets for the #39c3 are gone too fast.
Well, one more try...
When you planned to do the related work section, but IEEE is not available...
I need to start downloading papers when I find them, instead of constantly visiting websites.
This is the third time I start preparation for a paper ๐
I realized, I didn't have a clear scope and structure. Now I have a better thought out plan for 2+ papers.
I really need to planning better from the start next time...
Last time something like this happened to me, I had a really stupid spelling mistake in the Wi-Fi SSID...
Sometimes, you need to take a step back and double check some things that couldnt possibly be the issue ๐
(Regarding IP, try nmap to see IPs on your network before + after the Pi is turned on)
Signal not working because of an AWS outage is worrying.
I am not that familiar with the Signal internals, how is Signal using AWS?
I have found great satisfaction in my current level of English proficiency, particularly given the significant time and effort it took to attain. The present challenge is to develop competence in academic English.
I have been really happy with my current level of English, given the years it took me to learn it. Now, I need to figure out academic English...
I heard a lecture last week that really motivated me to do more tinkering, set up a home lab or try the Pwnie Island game to learn more cybersecurity.
Also, really want to get a travel router and VPN, since currently I use student WiFi...
But don't know where I can find the time currently... ๐
This month in the Hackerlab will be OSINT month, with OSINT 101 workshop, presentations by the students about some Bellingcat cases and at the end of the month we plan to participate in a Halloween OSINT CTF.
I am excited!
The Hacker Lab at our university has started and is going well. Already gave a talk and a workshop. Now we do topic months with one workshop and a talk.
Not a fan of vapes, especially the disposable ones, so much waste.
But it's electronics, so someone always finds a way to repurpose those: bogdanthegeek.github.io/blog/project...
Interesting blog post I found: kennedn.com/blog/posts/t...
I should really start learning mitmproxy, I have been eyeing it for quite a while ๐ค
What are your all-time favorite DEFCON talks?
Specifically, if I want to introduce new students to the world of hacking, the possibilities and mindset, what would you show them?

Seriously though, if you are feeling you are stuck, what I do is write bullet points first or an intentional first draft. To get something on the page first. Once it's there, editing it feels less of a barrier.
Good Luck!
Totally agree! In fact, can we normalize this in every field/life situation?
I feel this is a general problem, sad to see some people think they don't have to learn or shouldn't learn more.
So many people came to the first hacker lab meeting, we didn't have space for everyone! I didn't count, but it must have been around ~30 for sure. I expected like 10 or something.
Really nice to see the interest!
This semester we are restarting the hacker lab in my university. Looking forward to it and hope a lot of people are joining. I have been missing people with similar interests around me the previous years!
