Hi David,
It's not my list, I'm afraid. @eliseswritings.bsky.social made it.

That sounds amazing! Good luck setting one up.

I'm sorry you had to switch careers. I hope you're still happy.

I've only recently discovered archery and I definitely have a ton to learn still, but I'm absolutely loving it.

I've had to look up a target ball. I've not used it before but it looks like a fun addition.

I'll need to look that up. I've only been shooting for 7 months and primarily targets, though I had the odd 2D shoot with an occasional 3D target hiding amidst the regular ones. Do you shoot as well?

I'm doing barebow field archery.

I just joined BlueSky & am excited to connect with #writer friends here! 🐚 My current #WIP is an Adult Contemporary #Romcom. When I'm not writing, I'm a counselor, a doctoral student, and a mom of 4.

Let's follow each other! What’s your #WIP about?

Nope. I take long enough to switch off life and delve into one project. My brain would struggle to work on multiple ones. I'd worry I wouldn't stay true to the characters.

Ooh.... I like the idea of glow in the dark pages.

How do I tell that it's been a while since I read a physical book rather than on Kindle?

Last night I settled down with a brand new hardcover, opened it up, and switched off the lights.

"It feels a bit too young," I say on my first 2 days of reading The Cruel Prince, and then procede to devour the entire series in under 100 hours despite also writing some 6k words and working.

Needless to say, I rescind my earlier statement and highly recommend the series.

I need to light a scented candle or wax melts before I sit down. Sometimes even a 5 minute meditation just to switch off my "day brain".

Hello! BlueSky is amazing. A much friendlier place. What do you write?

A mood board with 5 images and a quote. The images depict:
- two hands, one white, one brown, touching.
- a sword lying on a stone.
- the silhouette of a young couple against the sunset on a beach.
- a castle towering on cliffs above the sea.
- a sunset over the sea. In the distance you see the silhouette of a couple. In the waves of the water is a quote: "A fine pair we make. Each as lonely as the other. You determined not to let anyone in and me too afraid to."

My current project is a YA fantasy with a dash of romance:

πŸ‘‘ A prince rebelling against a cruel king.
πŸ’§A girl risking everything to save her people.
πŸ‘£ A journey of self-discovery.
❀️ A forbidden love awakening.

There is likely going to be at least 1 if not 2 more books in this series.

New authors! Things you absolutely do not have to pay for:

-Being published

-Being interviewed on a podcast

-Book reviews

Things you should be paid for:

-Being published

-Your time and expertise

It doesn't matter how new you are. You never need to pay to play πŸ–€

I started reading "The Cruel Prince" by Holly Black. I felt it could be a suitable comparable title to my book.

For a while, I was concerned I had perhaps reached into too young an age group with this particular YA, but it really picks up in the second half.

What are you reading today, #booksky?

a few years ago, I attended my first publishing conference, and the advice was so good I spent the whole time frantically writing it all down. wanted to circulate them again, and so:

I wouldn’t say so as long as the ending is satisfying and gives closure.

I'd be interested. Can you tell me more?

I'm still wrapping my head around terminology & the fact that romantasy & fantasy romance are 2 different things.

The split seems to be about 80/20 in a romantasy which is why many fall a bit flat for me. I prefer more world building & character development. I'd say 60/40 or 50/50 suits me better.

That is super easy. I organise chapters in folders - each chapter a folder, and each scene a text file. Then it's just a matter of drag and drop if you need to move.

That should read you can make any individual document pop out. Basically, when you open Scrivener, it opens your project and anything related to it, including pictures and research you pulled directly from the web.

I use it, though probably not to its full potential. It's great being able to organise your notes, characters, and world building in one file. You can also have any file pop out to move it to a different screen/window, which is great for editing.
