“Montana is so boring to drive through!”

Idk man if this is boring to you maybe just stay home or take a plane if you’re unable to appreciate views like this. Just imagine what they’re like when you get off the interstate…

Nexstar caved to Trump on the whole Jimmy Kimmel censorship saga, we don't need them owning more TV stations.

Plus, history has shown consolidation kills local broadcasting.

Azi, are you ok? xD

I think with the volume of software and the lack of any permission being given just opens up waaaay too much of a minefield of liability. I get it, but actively preventing users from modifying to put it on there is a step too far. :x

A blue alien egg shaped device. It has a white oval in the centre.

We may be past Easter, but got an egg!

Quite possibly the only PSION WaveFinder in the US.

What is it?

A DAB Radio receiver for Windows XP machines of course!

To add salt to the wound, the US is still occupying Cuba to this day to the objection of its Government.

Very much a 'are we the baddies?' moment.

Given the suffering of Cubans, I think so.

What is currently being done to Cuba by our government of tyrants is nothing short of evil.

Cuba is no threat to the US, the International Community has long realized this, the US bemoans about a communist government being on our doorstep as problem.

So what?

Folks finding this post just now, see here, this explains a lot of Commodore's current actions bsky.app/profile/retr...

Assembly64 and CommoServe are firmware-level programs that allow you to download games, applications, demos and music. Assem64 can download anything, CommoServe is limited to just what Commodore have been given permission to.

CommoServe basically has nothing on it.

And yes, companies lie, I know, wasn’t born yesterday. :U

Man, I don’t usually go on a skeet storm, but the idea of a company that came out of the ashes on the back of the community and its goodwill and the idea of them possibly brazenly lying, just, ew, gross.

It’s about blocking Assembly64 which SPIFFY restores access to.

That’s why they’re doing this. Period.

Tl;dr @commodoreofficial.bsky.social are a bunch of fibbers over why they want to block custom firmware.

How about you drop the corpo-speak and be honest with the community.

If you wanted to block a piracy tool, just come out and say it, jeez.

Also, for clarity CommoServe sucks hot ass, there’s fuck all on it, and it’s been going for three months now.

I don’t blame enterprising folks trying to get Assembly64 back.

This would explain why Commodore is ignoring the industry standard, you broke it no warranty for you, and going down this path that appears everyone but Commodore seemed to understand.

I find it difficult to believe that they didn’t consider that policy and dismissed it.

2 days ago 5 0 1 0

I’ll say they’re taking a rather heavy handed approach to actively stopping people from making it work themselves though.

Some folks speculate it’s to not compromise the hypothetical success of CommoServe.

The firmware here is linked with the U64-Elite by Gideon, while similar to the C64U, they are non-Commodore branded and retained access to A64 iirc.

So this boils down to copyright, and Commodore not wanting to get sued for packing A64 which allows for downloading copyrighted stuff w/o permission.

This goes back to Dec 2025 see here: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewto...

But yeah, essentially, a change was made on the Github to have the firmware block Assembly64 use if it identified it was running on Commodore-branded hardware.

The SPIFFY custo-firm/patch that came out a week ago restores the ability for people to use Assembly64 on the C64U.

And now Commodore come out and say they’re planning to block this?

Seems a bit sus.

2 days ago 5 0 2 0

Hrmm, I might be wrong about my quoted skeet.

It seems that Commodore have been actively trying to stop C64U owners from using Assembly64 in favor of their own CommoServe.

What’s the difference? Assembly64 allows you to download C64 everything, the latter, only stuff that permission has been given

Honestly, the Vampire folks expect their users to be a bit braver, in that there’s a risk when upgrading your Vampire core, that if power is lost or it fails, you need a USB Blaster to fix it.

I literally bought one to pair with it, haven’t had to use it, but good to have.
