I really enjoyed this one, and highly recommend it. Please don't let superhero burnout from the mouse etc stop you from feasting your eyes on the dark green depths of ATHANASIA by Daniel Kraus.

Me holding up the book partially devoured

Happy birthday to my hero, Duane Jones (1937-1988).

Among his lost works that I learned about while writing PARTIALLY DEVOURED: an indie movie in which he played Malcolm X(!) and two seasons of a popular soap opera. A genius in many fields. πŸ’š

Here is my way too big #bookhaul from work yesterday. I figured, I got paid yesterday, why not? Can’t wait to dig into these. I have read the ghost that are us though and it’s brilliant!! @pfracassi.bsky.social @danielkraus.com @acwise.bsky.social @alexgrecian.bsky.social @stephenking.bsky.social

Happy birthday to the late great Duane Jones - actor, teacher, activist - who played horror cinema's first Black hero in Night of the Living Dead (1968). He was born on this day in 1937.

This is my portrait of him (available as a print from my website).

truly ashamed of my alma mater, where we learned to cut actual film with a razor on a flatbed. i wish everyone could have that opportunity.

A teenage boy goes to live with his grave robbing father and then it gets dark. A unique and amazing horror story.

Daniel Kraus is saved by being Partially Devoured I have loved Night of the Living DeadΒ since I first saw it when I was in middle school.Β I didn’t mind the black and white scenes, the slow action sequences, or even (what I perceived anyways) the weak female characters.Β Instead, I loved the idea that the film took place in a rural community located about two hours from my home in rural Pennsylvania. To me, nothing exciting ever happened in rural Pennsylvania, but here was Night of the Living Dead, filled with zombies! Everything in this film was

Never thought I’d talk publicly about my breakdown, and then I wrote a book about it. Life is strange & sometimes horrid - like today - but I’m glad to still be around. 🧑

NORTH SUN by Ethan Rutherford and ANGEL DOWN by Daniel Kraus are the two best novels I've read recently. Formally interesting, rich with research, propelled by fresh speculative elements, and brutally violent, in both cases I had trouble "escaping" the world of the book while I readβ€”and again after.
