The collapse and devastation of Sudan is designed by the UAE, backed by all the usual suspects.

5 months ago 36 14 0 2

Sudan’s main incentive in doing so was the removal of it from the U.S. ‘state sponsors of terrorism’ list and it having its debts cleared, which would then give it access to $1bn in annual funding from the World Bank as well as from other international financial institutions. /6

Sudan itself is a signatory to the Abraham Accords, though it never fully normalized with Israel as a result of the civil war breaking out and then the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The deal was never finalized or ratified. /5

Reminder that the Abraham “Peace” Accords were actually not simply normalization treaties but arms agreements. While those deals happened under Trump, the Biden admin has approved massive arms sales to both the UAE & KSA ($5Bn in 2022 for missile defense). /4

The UAE is the main backer of the RSF - including through arms.

Two-thirds of the UAE’s arsenal is bought from the U.S. - with South Korea & Israel also being large suppliers, especially of air defense (missiles).

The UAE is the third top supplier in the region (behind Israel and Turkey). /3

Estimates put numbers slaughtered at upwards of hundreds, into the thousands, over the course of a few days. Satellite images, found by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab, suggest piles of human bodies in ElFashir and red discoloration of patches of soil, consistent with blood.

Horrific situation in Sudan’s El Fashir, which has fallen to the RSF. Massacre after massacre of civilians; civilian men being asked if they’re soldiers and being summarily executed in the streets.

It’s precisely this aura of authority that has allowed it to remain complicit in crime after crime, with impunity.

It should be shameful to be a part of and uphold this institution that intentionally has manufactured justifications and propaganda for the extermination of the Palestinian nation./3

The Times has long survived - and thrived - on its claim to be the standard, the institution around which the entire news industry orbits. Its prestige is treated as untouchable, even by many of its critics./2

I’m one of more than 300 writers who have signed a pledge not to write for New York Times Opinion until the paper takes accountability for its role in the genocide of the Palestinian people.

The genocide is not over. We are dealing with overseers and executioners of an extermination campaign of children.

According to @sanasaeed.bsky.social, mainstream outlets use stories that highlight the toll of human suffering in Gaza to defend themselves when accused of bias.

“These types of ‘good stories’ still diminish the role of the United States and Israel in the genocide itself.”

You’re here and not necessarily hearing / reading the experiences of Palestinians in Gaza in real time.

Here are just some of the tweets from Palestinians in Gaza as Israel turns this into one of the bloodiest nights of the genocide.

Agreed. One of the best films I’ve seen in awhile and she carried that film on her back, shoulders and in her eyes.

yeah the woman who starred in a film about the cruel discarding of aging women in the entertainment industry in exchange for the hot new piece of ass losing to, well, pretty much that ..is too on the nose.

Trump’s plan for “emptying” Gaza had headlines and reports using the word “ethnic cleansing” and referencing it as a violation of international law. 145 Democrats called it “morally indefensible”.

None of that for Israel’s actual crimes.

Israel wants to extend the war, not the ceasefire.

It’s campaign of starvation - a war crime - is presented just as a tactic to extend the first phase of the ceasefire.

Israel wants to extend the first phase because the second phase would require it to withdraw its troops from Gaza & end the war.

This act is unequivocally anti-Muslim, it is an intentional desecration of the holy month; it is another iteration of the ethnosupremacy that has been a defining feature of the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

At a time when Muslims are already fasting out of spiritual and communal devotion, Israel wants to starve them - there’s almost a humor in it for them.

There is something pathologically cruel—distinctly Israeli, in its calculated brutality—about starving a population that is 99% Muslim on the second day of Ramadan.

This is actually insane? They weren’t even US citizens?

Their deaths—at the hands of Israel—are being used as a war cry for continuing the extermination of Palestinians. It’s become abundantly clear that the culture and embrace of genocide in this country won’t be dismantled.

If we want to talk about a theater of macabre, that performs humiliation and desecration of the dead, the Israelis are its greatest playwrights.

We’ve had 16 months straight of IDF soldiers filming themselves and taking photos of themselves wearing Palestinian women’s lingerie, playing and desecrating the bedrooms of children they’ve displaced, stepping on skulls of decomposed Palestinians.. it’s never ending.
