Housing near public transit encourages car-free living A Bucktown resident is perplexed by neighbors who think housing near a Blue Line stop will bring more cars. Also, the Illini men's basketball team, Trump and what spring break was like for teens back ...

I had this exact same discourse with my neighbors in my previous building. The empty lot next door was being planned to be a housing building. The traffic complaints were endless, and the building is just blocks from the redline in uptown.

Currently reading, ā€œConversations with Friendsā€ by Sally Rooney. I’m just sad that I’ve read every other book she has written. Now I’ll have to wait for her to write another. She’s such an amazing writer.

Totally agree. The writing is actually really great but the video game thing wasn’t for me! I saw that this new book is on the way, I might give it a try too.

Unfortunately, I’m not the type for Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. I see the appeal, but I will not be reading the rest of the series.

Why not go all the way to Evanston? Regardless, I personally think this is too big. I could easily live my entire life inside this boundary with a car and rarely if ever cross the toll boundary.

I’d prefer just turning Lakeshore drive from McCormick Center, to its end on the north side, into a toll road. This seems super logical to me - even as a north side resident myself.

I was either focused on my pace, didn’t want to disrupt your pace or late to kickball!!!

Hot take: I don’t love a novel written in excerpts, transcripts or newspaper clippings. I’m currently reading ā€œMurder in the Familyā€ by Cara Hunter and I cannot keep focus.

Quick Review: As someone at an HFT firm, Flash Boys threw me into the electric early days of speed trading. Lewis unpacks how microseconds became millions, the secrecy and tech wizardry behind it all. Still thrilling and eye-opening years later. #booksky #currentlyreading

Syndicated content in Sun-Times special section included AI-generated misinformation A Chicago freelance journalist said he did not fact-check information he compiled using AI before including it in stories for media clients.

Always grim and awkward to report on problems affecting your own news organization.

But our credibility depends partly on covering these issues the same way as any other topic.

That’s what we tried to do here chicago.suntimes.com/news/2025/05...

A person relaxing in a hammock holding a copy of the book ā€œHello Beautifulā€ by Ann Napolitano. The book cover is colorful and features an abstract painted portrait of a woman’s face. Stickers on the cover note it’s a New York Times Bestseller and an Oprah’s Book Club 2023 selection. A blurred tropical background with blue sky and greenery is visible in the distance.

Currently wrapped up in Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano - lush, emotional, and beautifully written. Perfect hammock read. Loving how the story unfolds in my home city of Chicago.

A paperback copy of The Topeka School by Ben Lerner resting on a wooden surface. The cover features a dark stormy sky over a road, with a tornado or dust cloud forming in the distance. The book is labeled as a Pulitzer Prize finalist and one of The New York Times 10 Best Books of the Year. A brown bookmark peeks out from the top of the book.

Currently making my way through The Topeka School by Ben Lerner. It’s a bit of a slog at times, but there’s something intriguing about its writing style, debate, and cultural critique. Not the easiest read, but I’m sticking with it.
