I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

I once knew buyers who were the opposite of that—in a market where houses usually went $50k-$100k over list, they insisted they wanted “a good deal” and would only make below-asking offers, as though the listing price were an intrinsic property of the house itself???

We once had a neighbor with an indoor/outdoor cat who would come *rub his face on our car tires* when we were trying to leave for work

a correction notice in the print edition of today's financial times. it reads as follows:

Correction
• Researcher Brené Brown was misquoted in an interview published on April 6. She described herself as "solidly in my fuck it era" rather than "solidly in my fucking era".

Ok, so, this would be React Native, but

In the iOS app, I’ve seen text boxes get so laggy that you can see a newly typed letter appear distinctly *before* the cursor advances. I’ve even managed to type additional letters before the cursor moves, and end up with a jumbled word

“There is a large fireplace across the room from him, but the fire has gone out. He cannot easily roast marshmallows.”

I love love love this account’s alt text game. Also, medieval eel economics are surprisingly interesting.

I don’t have a photo of this, but once I was stuck in terrible traffic in sight of a strip club with a sign that said “NUDE”, with an auto glass place behind it

From my perspective the signs lined up perfectly so it said “NUDE ASS”, and as I inched forward it turned into “NUDE LASS”

Our choir conductor, up on stage and facing us, realized his fly was down. He turned away from us and zipped up his fly

“away from us” as in “towards the audience”

Increasingly I keep being told by normies that they would “love to go to the symphony someday” and it’s starting to drive me crazy because if you want to go, you can just go! It’s not a once-in-a-lifetime thing! It’s not expensive! You don’t have to know anything! Just buy a ticket and go!

I'm old-fashioned. I want your business to have a website. Don't gimme an Instagram page and a phone number. I wanna see what services you offer and then make an appointment on a regular degular website!

I’ve seen it in the US only a handful of times, usually in large en-suite bathrooms. At our last place—a 2-story—we seriously considered moving our w/d to the upstairs bathroom so we wouldn’t have to haul so much laundry down and back up

The correct solution to the DST debate for the continental US is to divide each time zone into a north half with permanent standard time and a south half with permanent DST

Late ‘90s console games that tried to do full 3D “realistic” humans (eg Tomb Raider and GoldenEye) looked fucking terrible, even at the time. They weren’t acceptable quality until about 2001. Game studios should have stuck to e.g. nonhuman creatures or cartoony humans in the interim

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Holbrook is small, but Wikipedia claims it’s a city, so 🤷🏽‍♂️

(In retrospect, my then-undiagnosed ADHD probably made the tedium considerably worse)

I was once stranded in Holbrook, AZ for a few days when my car broke down during a road trip. This was pre-smartphone and pre-Netflix streaming. After one (1) day of mind-numbing monotony, I walked a mile to a grocery store in 95°F heat just because it was something to do

The article doesn’t make it obvious how much was overdue in total, but presumably north of $1 million? Where *is* that money? 🤔

A sign on a small patch of grass in a village in Devon which warns 'NO EXERCISING OF DOGS'.

What a relief that somebody finally got onto this. There has been so much exercising of dogs on this small patch of grass in recent weeks. Dogs being encouraged to do press-ups, squat thrusts and numerous forms of weight training. Really awful to see. I'm so glad somebody finally put a stop to it.

It's #transdayofvisibility and I would not presume that my opinion *matters* -- but it appears we're in a time where everybody should make this clear: trans rights are human rights, I support my trans friends and fellow creators. Everyone deserves the right to flourish as human beings.
