Loved it in 84- still do today. The whole scene in the mall.... brilliant.

Well kudos for that. I'd have loved to have seen it. My parents thought it would be too dark for me-
I get that. There are several many films on that list for me. Once was more than enough even though I loved them.
Did you see this one ? It was amazing, they played all the instruments... I saw this twice at a cost may I add.
Oh this little ditty. I remember renting the VHS and feeling like we did something we shouldn't have. Well it was not that kind of film- but I love it all the more for what it is.
I've not heard of this one. I'm so happy..... I love discoveries
The Hindenburg, this overstuffed late stage disaster spectacle is kind of fun and I've not seen it in forever. If I get bored I'll tune in to Who's the Boss.
This was a favorite for young me. I always found the Dust Witch to be so creepy. This is when films for young adults were happy to scare the crap out of you.
I had both of these- both the playset AND the Laserdisc
It's not good, in fact far from it, but I love it all the same.
Ok, this one.... hmm, not sure how I feel about the moralizing and the crazy vigilante aspects- but... I think my biggest issue is that each time I've seen it, I can't stop laughing.. I don't think it was ever meant to be camp but......um, sorry.
for sure not as solid as the original, but.... it does have Grace.
Hmmm, so after 11 you are no longer able to buy them
Excellent film- but then again, I can't be objective. I love most everything this man has done.
What do you mean Flash Gordon approaching.
Sadly, many of us have been ensnared in this very trap.
I've a very good friend who has "allowed" ? "coerced" ? "Forced" ? me to see many of these films- against my protestations that I am not made for them. I stick by that assertation but I do like spending time with him- so, you know, I'll likely see the new one and be as bored as I was for many others
of course it did- what an amazing performances and the overall production.
I'd not pick based on a twist or some such item, I'd pick based on the joy I remember it bringing to me on the first time watch-(that I'd love to recapture) so I'd have to go with Nashville. It literally changed the way I looked at cinema.
I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. I was young, only 10 but the memory lingers. It was electric. This and the original cast of Dreamgirls and Into The Woods live deep inside my brain.
I've not read the novel, but that movie- just amazing. Saw it very young and perhaps did not understand it all then, but somehow felt it was a warning for the future from the past.
I've been OBSSESSED with her since 1979 when I saw her in Evita. I think I've been able to see her in 6 or 7 different shows over the years- I know she can sometimes be divisive.. but not for me. Happy Birthday indeed, may she have 50 more.
Yes!!! of course with such limited space I don't have characters to get into music or some if the amazing supporting performances- This film is so solid on all counts.
MELANCHOLIA (2011) Dir. Lars von Trier
This apocalypse film is not about survival, but acceptance. Striking blend of personal despair and global catastrophe. It turns inward even as the world ends. Kirsten Dunst is outstanding and grounds it all. Heavy material but unexpectedly absorbing. Trust me
No worries, It was not even on my list, I have so much else to watch.
It is very good and feels honest- I love smaller stories about bigger issues.
What a career- she's been in some of the best Sci-FI and Horror films of any generation. Happy Birthday indeed.
It's a sequel I can't say that I wanted, but one I am sure to see.
Can't say I love Ghost Ship but it has one of the best opening scenes from horror of that time.
You know, I have a 14 hour flight coming up in a week or so- perhaps I will read it then.
