There are so many things in our state that we could be focusing on to truly help mothers and children, and none of these bills do that,” says Shofner.

Carey Shofner with the Palmetto State Abortion Fund says the majority of people who access abortion care are already parents.
“We have the 8th worst maternal mortality rate in the country. We have 9th worst in infant mortality. We have an F rating from the March of Dimes.

A graphic announces that “S.1095 moves on to full committee.” The text is displayed in bold blue lettering on a torn paper-style background. Behind it is a faded image of the South Carolina State House and a crowd of protesters holding signs. At the bottom, white text reads: “Full committee hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 AM.” A red warning icon appears near the headline.
A teal background graphic with centered white text explains S.1095. It states that a similar abortion ban was defeated previously, but the bill has been reintroduced. The text describes S.1095 as an extreme anti-abortion bill that would ban nearly all abortions, remove key exceptions, criminalize providers and patients, restrict access to abortion medication, target support networks like PSAF, and allow lawsuits against those involved. The graphic concludes: “This isn’t just an abortion ban, it’s a targeted attack on community and support.”
A teal background graphic provides a call to action urging viewers to contact members of the Senate Medical Affairs Committee to oppose S.1095. It lists several South Carolina senators along with their phone numbers and email addresses. The text encourages calling and emailing to oppose the bill and any further restrictions on abortion access in the state.

S. 1095 has passed the subcommittee with a favorable report after less than an hour of discussion.
S. 1095 has passed the subcommittee with a favorable report after less than an hour of discussion.
The hearing for S.1095 has just started. We will keep you updated on how things progress.
Earlier today, the Senate Medical Affairs Subcommittee heard public testimony on S.1095, yet another anti-abortion bill.
They capped public testimony at just 20 people. Only 20 voices allowed to speak on a bill that would impact thousands across our state.
Zero testimony was given today on how this bill would impact IVF access in SC. When embryo's are granted legal personhood the jump to banning IVF and birth control aren't far behind and we need to talk about it. #scdems #scpol #scsenate @psabortionfund.bsky.social #IVF #abortionban
This bill would punish them for it.
And it would punish anyone who refuses to leave them behind.
South Carolinians deserve care, not criminalization.

It criminalizes patients & support. It threatens to put mothers—and the people who help them—behind bars.
At PSAF, we help people access care every day. Most of the people we serve are already parents. They are making thoughtful, necessary decisions for their families in impossible circumstances.
Thankfully, we were able to get our cofounder on that list.
What you’re hearing in this video is the truth:
This bill doesn’t just target abortion. It targets the people who make care possible.
