Spring Clearance Mini-Stock Sale!
I'm clearing out my stock cupboards and using up spare bits, so there's a limited number of One Breath Left and Border Riding available at stoutstoat.co.uk 📚
Just want to say how much more accessible reading random scottish history books has become to me after reading this.
What's a byre? No longer is my mind going to check wiki for a five word summary i won't retain, now the gorgeous illustration from this book comes to mind. Same for other words. ❤️
This week on Dice Exploder it's four mini episodes in one!

and I talk about The Awards, the niche indie rpg awards show they facilitate. We get into why ranking things is dumb but fun, and then some of our favorite mechanics from the last The Awards' winners.
I was just talking to some undergrads about how mutual respect for (and excitement to work with) your freelancers is fundamental to creating good collaborative work. Too many people see artists as crank machines to churn out something beautiful, even before the age of gen AI.
(I have a medical license from the College of Leech Harvesters, so I know a thing or two about this.)
Orcs are blood (hot and wet, aligning to Spring)
Dwarves are yellow bile (hot and dry, aligning to Summer)
Gnomes are black bile (cold and dry, aligning to Autumn)
Elves are phlegm (cold and wet, aligning to Winter)
Thus each opposite balances; Orcs and Gnomes, Dwarves and Elves.
Thank you for waiting!! Imports and exports are TRICKIER THAN EVER as it turns out
"Your aura is too hot and dry, which is making you sick. Go hang out with some snotty elves for the afternoon. That'll be 3gp, pay with the receptionist on your way out"
This is the sort of "four bodily humours" world building I like to see
Text reading “USA Shipping now available from Indie Press Revolution” over the cover of Carved in Stone. Cover shows a precision of ancient Scots hiking through a forest, but with badly drawn USA flags in their hands.
It’s official - Carved in Stone is finally available in the USA, through the one and only @ipr.bsky.social !
You can order your copy directly from them (alongside a host of other beautiful books and games!)

So glad that people in the US can now also get a physical copy of this amazing book.
Still on the fence? Then check out my video about it!
Baffled, and yet also delighted that somehow such a trove of woven materials has survived decomposition in Scotland's acidic soil
And a big warm round of applause for IPR for helping distribute all of the Kickstarter rewards earlier this month, and generally being gems through all of the stop-and-start-and-stop-again updates with regards to getting these books into the USA. Shipping is hell, and rarely in your control!
Carved in Stone is also available through the main Stout Stoat Press store, with international shipping from the UK.

Friends over in Canada, Mexico, and that neck of the woods may want to compare shipping prices between my UK store and IPR for the best deal!

Delightful arrival in today's mail: Carved in Stone by @stoutstoat.co.uk. Absolutely gorgeous book, thoroughly researched and reviewed, and crammed with everything you never knew you needed to know about the Picts. Not a game stat in sight, but plenty of prompts for your game design needs.
