Excellent conversation. Prof. Snyder is among the few Westerners who 'get' Eastern Europe, and all democracy-loving Americans can learn a lot from our experience (which brings some hope).

The American right has turned to Hungary to learn how authoritarians consolidate power.

The American left should look to Poland to see how a big-tent coalition can defeat authoritarianism. It involves multiple parties appealing to different voters.

The Tech Coup An insider offers a “forceful critique...of Big Tech's steady erosion of democracy” (The New Yorker) and describes what must be done to stop it

Wow! This book is just amazing.... Much more balanced than the cover or title suggests, but all the more chilling in its conclusions. I don't think there is an equally good position analyzing the political consequences of the development of Big Techs.
