A tailored practice facilitation strategy was linked to increased adoption of evidence-based screening and counseling for unhealthy alcohol use among adults at small and medium-sized primary care practices, a study suggested.

I’m having major uncertainty around canceling my @washingtonpost.com
subscription. I disagree with Bezos censorship of the editorial section. But I also don’t want to abandon great reporters who remain on staff. I already subscribe to other newspapers and outlets. What would you do, @bsky.app?
An Estimate of Preventable Harms Associated With Screening Colonoscopy Overuse in the U.S. www.ajpmfocus.org/article/S277... Important analysis I co-authored with @ahuffstetler.bsky.social now available in the February issue of @ajpmfocus.bsky.social
What happened in my first two work hours today: 1. Reviewing a students one-pager on community training, 2. Drafting an internal presentation on journal review, 3. Drafting an external presentation on GME outcomes, 4. Responding to ~20 emails, 5. Reading a journal club article.
All before 10 am. 🥳

RFK Jr will cause harm -he already has! He’s upheld non scientific stances on SO many things. Vaccines are one, but incorrect ideas on fluoride, spreading claims about UPF causing mental health problems, and COVID sparing Jewish people. These are medical garbage. Doctors, you MUST stand for science.
I should very much have said OUR research! @kennylinafp.bsky.social
One time, my research got highlighted as a POEM- patient oriented evidence that matters. It happened again today and I am OVER the moon!
A post of text: To those families and youth impacted by the eo on gender affirming care- we are here for you and working on pathways to get you care. You matter.
We see you and will find a way. Reach out if you need Virginia resources for kids.
In Virginia, new bill offers loan repayment for primary care and behavioral health clinicians up to $200,000 for 2 years of service in a high need area. That’s a win.
The number of contraceptive visits I have had in the last few months is astronomical. Not just for IUDs - but for vasectomies. A clear correlation with the fear of policy on people’s reproductive life. It’s personal. It’s politics. It’s healthcare. Elections have consequences.
Be suspicious of people who spell HIPAA as HIPPA. They may be the same ones telling you you’re violating patient confidentiality…
Back after a mighty snowfall in the DC area. Which made me think about how climate change will continue to impact care. Maybe one day of office closures aren’t huge, but if my office canceled 120 patient appointments, and every office did that, how many people are impacted? A lot. A lot.
Things I’m thinking about in 2025: the #project2025 proposal to cut #veterans access to healthcare via significant changes to the VA health system. I worry about increased, unaddressed #mentalhealth and suicide. I worry about #CTE and long term care. I worry about #chroniccare. Protect vets, pls.
Let’s talk about this. In part, true. But in part, really wrong. The issue is that we treat healthcare as a business. It’s not a business. It’s a common good. And we have to change the “pricing” to reflect the essential service it brings to communities.
‼️Oh my gosh. This USPSTF prelim recommendation is 🔥🔥 Individuals 30-65 yo w/ a cervix can now SELF-SWAB for HPV to screen for cervical cancer.
Life saving.
Comfortable.
Private.
Reducing disparities.
I can hardly control my excitement.

Family Medicine Residents in abortion restrictive states worry about legal risk and change the conversations that they have with patients about reproductive medicine. Policies DO impact how we care for patients, not just in procedures, but in our relationships.

When will the lawmakers start listening to the doctors?
Primary care led ACOs are more likely to have shared savings and achieve high quality care. The higher proportion of PC physicians, the better the results. Read more! thepcc.org/reports/prim...
As you head into December cold, remember going outside without a coat on doesn’t give you a cold. 🙂↔️
