You're welcome
Simon Tisdall's final column for the Observer has a powerful message for Britain. Well worth taking a moment out of your Sunday to read:

We just wanted to take a moment to thank all our new supporters! Tomorrow, there will be more of us!
Interesting. I was just having conversation about repatriating IT services to the EU, and also European based AI. What are your thoughts Stefano?
A couple of years ago, we did a core conversion at work, which involved porting a large amount of data to a new system.
It took us many months to be assured it was what we needed / expected, and this is stuff we'd been working with for years.
Basically- there's no way DOGE knows what they're doing
A table with the IDs and names of the malicious Chrome exteions

Did he have a guard on it?

Nature already invented this machine 500 million years ago. It's called a plant.

Dear manager, this week I
1) climbed highest mountains
2) have run through the fields
3) have scaled these city walls
4) have kissed honey lips
5) felt the healing in her fingertips
But I still haven’t found who I’m working for
And from those in the know, a similar smell
We must all remember this. And take sides.
In case you missed it, as of Feb. 22, 2025:
* Arctic sea-ice extent: lowest
* Antarctic sea-ice extent: 2nd lowest
* Global sea-ice extent: lowest
* Global mean surface temperature: 4th highest
* Global sea-surface temperature: 2nd highest
* 36-month albedo: lowest
* Collapse of everything: highest
And meanwhile, our senses are overwhelmed by the Washington DC shit show.
And then compare with Eliott’s post showing how badly we are doing in terms of ice coverage

I mean, they just hate the idea that someone might do something that doesn't damage the planet

What does Elon think of this? Surely this will flood the market with used EV’s.
A quick reminder that we are witnessing the beginning of simultaneous cascading global catastrophes.
It's a good day for a long walk.
Trump has now completely humiliated his apologists in the U.K. but not one of them will be honest enough to admit it.
And yet these mendacious idiots bleat about lack of freedom of speech. While shackling those with the most to contribute.
The revolution can begin any time now as far as I’m concerned. Let it rip.
Show me every aspect of a meteorologist’s job touches on one or more of these areas? So forget virtual meetings. Just go and sit. Sharpen pencils.
… and should be boldly and righteously ignored. If you obey each one of those exclusions, there’s nothing left.
I would like to see a few British broadcasters read out every word of Trump’s latest ‘statement’ live on air & then remind us of their often lavish statements of support for him & then share some of their supportive words for Ukraine.
And then we can all watch their brains explode…
Your 'doom quote' for today:
“By the end of this century, climate change will reduce the human population to a few breeding pairs surviving near the Arctic.”

It’s not the best moment for the US to be jettisoning health and science agencies.
Just sayin’.
Make the most of it, Simon. Your curiosity and productivity are inspirational. Thanks for everything you share.
And I’ve used it across most of those years. Life-changing.
Saw this cracking new play last night at the @arcolatheatre.bsky.social in Dalston. Written by an old mate of mine from newspaper days, it's a dark & very funny analysis of changing attitudes to offence, comedy & politics. Performances are uniformly exquisite.
