Passed my viva last Friday — truly living la viva voce right now.
Huge thanks to my entire supervisory team for keeping me steady through every twist, turn, and neural circuit.

Very interesting. I need to read it carefully but wonder if there is any connection to PFL2/3?

I would love to join over Zoom but it will be 4am in my time zone. Will there be a recording posted after the lecture is finished ?

Thanks for this ! It's fascinating. I'm trying to figure out how to augment Izhikevich models for extracellular Octopamine. Applying similar effects for p2y sensitivity would also be interesting. Sadly, not seeing many papers on p2y in Dros :/

Consider also that technological resistance is strongly related to economic impact. We didn't see that so much with electricity because it took many decades to invade normal life and business. But looms used during the industrial revolution manifested luddites. Why? They lost their jobs.

@mattferrell.bsky.social Just saw an article about scientists in China are developing a potentially cleaner way to extract lithium from salt water using solar-powered evaporation, which also produces fresh water. Looks like a win trifecta, no ?

You could very well be correct. There's quite a hype curve now, and that leads investors to dive in head first, even if there isn't much water in the pool. But it could be the business case will pan out: eventually.

I support Panksepp's conclusions. Affects , especially SEEK, in the midbrain urge organisms to interact with its environment to achieve homeostasis. My post-doc work is searching for evidence of a potential SEEK in the brain Drosophila.

Great video. I also like that Big Oil should embrace this technology due to its dependence on traditional drilling tech. So when they say drill baby drill... In this particular case, I must agree 👍

Is it surprising progress? or ... Surprising that any progress has been made? There's a subtle difference ;)

Hey @gzeromedia.com , why don't I see #puppetregime as a fullblown streaming show?! Muppets meet political satire (strongly). I can't imagine a better surefire hit if I tried 🤩

Earth’s Magnetic Field has a Hole, and it’s changing
Earth’s Magnetic Field has a Hole, and it’s changing YouTube video by Sabine Hossenfelder

Earth's magnetic field has a hole located over the South Atlantic Ocean. It’s called the South Atlantic Anomaly and according to NASA and the ESA, it’s changing. Could this be a sign that the Earth’s magnetic field is about to flip? I’ve had a look.
