Florida student arrested after joke asking Netanyahu to drop bombs A Florida student was arrested after posting messages in a group chat that appeared to call for bombs to be dropped on a campus event. Classmates reported the comments to police.

"In one post, Saldana appeared to reference Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu writing: 'Netanyahu, if you can hear me, drop some bonbons for us Capstone students in Ocean Bank Convocation Center,' according to an arrest report."

This Data Center is Getting a $77 Million Tax Break to Create One Job No other project in the country has gotten such a large subsidy to create so few jobs, according to watchdogs.

Rockland County, NY, gave a $77 million data center tax break to JP Morgan Chase to create exactly one job. On a dollars-per-job basis it appears to be the costliest subsidy in U.S. history, possibly even a world record

Thanks!

I'm not sure if my regex for getting the columns for exemptions cited, etc. are fully accurate yet, but hopefully will finish that in next week or so. (I looked at using LLM for this but it would have been kinda expensive to run that many PDFs through one.)

Oh, I know. Always fun waiting two weeks for gov to fix some technical error in their response before you can appeal again. Isn't this not exempt by statute (a) for the cops though? Although if DA is claiming (d) maybe there's some wiggle room on if they can be compelled to release or not?

Pleasantly surprised*

I'm actually surprised they ruled this way if the footage is evidence in an ongoing trial.

There's a few of these I was actually like, sure yeah makes sense, but then I read the next sentence.

Like: "Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible."

Oh, wait by "moral debt" you mean they must build (MORE) weapons and surveillance tools? Nevermind...

Put another way, that thing with Geese would be much different if they got big because someone posted a .zip of their album to viva la vinyl or whatever

This is not a defense of Suno and the rest, but my gut feeling is that if it weren't first for algorithmic music feeds replacing peer to peer music recommendation/sharing, popular opinion about audio gen would be different; possibly seen as adjacent to sampling than existential threat to indie acts.

Interesting to read that "police tried twice to use non-lethal force, but it was not effective in stopping him."

So they had enough time to use -- I assume -- tasers. But not enough time to like, I don't know, take a few steps back?

I mean, Longmeadow is rural but based on skimming wikipedia and half of a review headlined "The Beekeeper isn't dumb enough" I'm going with someone just googled where the FBI field office for western Massachusetts was located and find and replaced it into the script last minute

Hampshire fought for years to survive. Now the college reckons with its end Hampshire College will close after years of financial struggle, leaving students and alumni grieving its unique community.

I feel like the way MassLive did it here is also probably fine though

The battery pack looks like 3s6p. Based on the 19 Ah capacity, I would guess it uses 3500 mAh cells, probably something like Samsung INR-18650-35E. Depending on BMS should be good for ~60 amps continuous discharge. Three in series would be a decent e-bike pack. 5 packs for 15s would be more fun tho

Or just admire these double hockey sticks showing a sharp increase in lobbying spending by the funeral home and cemetery industries, which are kind of in competition with each other and kind of not due to a bunch of regulations
