Doug Ford’s new bill would give him too much control over TTC, confidential report warns A confidential TTC briefing note obtained by the Star says Bill 98 could allow Doug Ford’s government to take over the TTC to regulate fare prices and even share revenue with other transit systems.

They're right.

Bill 98 is a direct attack on the rights of local transit riders, transit workers and the TTC Board itself.

We fought for and won 3 years of a fare freeze. But for what? For Ford to overturn local decisions and raise fares? Not on our watch.

Ontario correctional facilities operating at 130% capacity as overcrowding worsens | Globalnews.ca New documents obtained by Global News using freedom of information laws show Ontario's correctional facilities are overflowing, with no sign the situation will improve.

80% of people in an Ontario jail haven't been convicted of a crime.

“This lays waste to the principle of the presumption of innocence. It also lays waste to the argument we have a catch and release system and that our bail is too lenient.”

Ontario to seize ownership of Toronto Island Airport lands and declare it is a special economic zone Premier Doug Ford says the provincial government will be seizing ownership of city-owned lands at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport and declaring it a special economic zone, invoking new powers that will...

Invoking Bill 5 to designate the island airport a "special economic zone" isn't just overreach on municipal authority.

It also allows the Ford government to circumvent all responsibility for harms caused to the land, water, wildlife, and human health around the airport — including future lawsuits.

Union’s legal review challenges Ontario’s promise that water corporations will be publicly owned CUPE hired a law firm to analyze the new water and wastewater corporations

With the passing of Bill 60, the Ford government has given itself broad regulatory powers that allow for the privatization of water and wastewater without legislative debate.

I'm old enough to remember Walkerton. Our water — our health — isn't for sale.

I spoke to CBC about proposed regulations on Bill 6. Bluntly put, I am vehemently opposed to criminalizing people on the TTC suspected of using drugs. While the law is aimed at homeless people, what does someone who uses drugs look like? This is a recipe for profiling. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
