There is nothing newsworthy about putting people seeking asylum at risk. There is nothing in the public interest about misleading the public as to the scale of people seeking asylum based on being LGBTQIA+. There is nothing in the public interest about ignoring the barriers they face to safety. 8/

This reminds me of when Braverman claimed people were pretending to convert to Christianity to claim asylum. As then, it ignores that majority of people only feel safe being out when they reach a country of safety. It ignores the obstacles they face. 7/

The newsworthiness of exposing improper practices among some immigration advisors is something I doubt many working in the migrants' rights sector would disagree with. Instead BBC has decided to make out people "pretending" to be LGBTQIA+ is a far wider issue than it is is, with little context. 6/
If the BBC had focused its report on dodgy immigration advisors exploiting people seeking asylum and providing them with false information that would be one thing, and it is an issue which needs addressing. Instead they have framed this as people seeking asylum pretending to be LGBTQIA+ 5/
This reporting puts LGBTQIA+ as well as migrants' rights, groups at more risk of far-right attacks, undermines safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and makes it harder for LGBTQIA+ people seeking asylum, who already face significant barriers, to be recognised, all based on a handful of anecdotes 4/
This reporting from BBC stokes division, racism and homophobia, and fails to engage with that reality faced by most LGBTQIA+ individuals. I will be making a formal complaint and hope many others will as well

Individuals who base their asylum applications on being LGBTQIA+ make up a tiny proportion of overall asylum cases, and even then a significant proportion, more than a third, are refused, often with disastrous outcomes. 2/
Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

It's perfectly reasonable to challenge ministers on N Sea oil & gas as a response to the energy shock.
But this is the exclusive framing for EVERY interview on this topic.
No minister or opposition leader is ever asked if they'll "max out" wind/solar.
It's always framed as fossil fuels v inaction
James Bembridge on X: Hate is too weak a word for what I feel towards the NHS. I'd tear it down and salt the earth upon which it stood.
Lovely people, these Reform UK candidates for the upcoming election, and great to know they're on our side.

Important to seek clarity today on whether Home Office and No 10 will try to defend - or will now withdraw - a false+misleading claim applying settlement reforms to 2022-24 cohort saves £10bn
Not just overspinning lifetime saving in 30 years time
Gvt policy doesn't save maybe £8-10 billion of it!

Cambridge Rules Okay The beautiful game brings us passion and joy, To many an adult, or small girl and boy. It brings friends together, and sometimes brings tears When you follow your team through the trophy-less years. But mostly there’s passion and striving to win. Here is a poem read at the monument's official unveiling.
Sounds a lot like the EU Defence Union that the UK spent decades blocking while it was a member of the union.
Rearmament would be a lot cheaper with such a union and would actually give Europe the capacity for autonomous defence, which the current NATO spending plans do not.
Sheesh the full-res version of Trump's Board of Peace logo somehow looks even worse.
Mixing a clip-art wreath with a pseudo-realistic, geo-textured map is a graphic design atrocity.
Big Microsoft Paint energy.
Charging $1 billion to join a committee with a recycled AI slop logo is phenomenally on brand for Trump.
Trump’s Board of Peace logo is basically the UN logo, except dipped in gold and edited so the world only includes America.
These so-called "patriotic" 🇬🇧newspapers who brought you Brexit were never really patriotic at all.
They are driven by a disdain for Britain's European neighbours, and a fawning obsession with America.
They do not really want 🇬🇧 to be sovereign. They're content being a 🇺🇸vassal.
I wonder why Nigel Farage has pulled out of The Laura Kuenssberg TV programme this morning?
🤔
I think the White House badly underestimates the strength of the pan-European folk memory of 1930s appeasement, and how deep it still cuts. I suppose this is what happens when you learn in school that WW2 started in 1941 in Hawaii.
Week by week - Laura Kuenssberg is interviewing the party leaders.
When I agreed to come on the show, I was told Nigel Farage was also doing it.
He's now pulled out - and they've sent the deputy instead.
The same Nigel Farage who's refusing to debate me.
A pattern emerging...

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.
