My grandad passed away this morning so I won’t be posting for a while
A text exchange 1: Why is everything so expensive, I'm not even having a good time 2: Economic collapse 1: Gross
Vibe check!
...
The vibes are in shambles!
Update: I’ve cancelled my KU membership and have 12 books on my kindle TBR (that are not KU) — we’re getting there
I made some a few weeks ago they’re sooo good 😊
I’ve never heard of the pocketbook era I’ll have to look into it. My local library is terrible with Libby — wonder if it’s compatible with BorrowBox 🤔
I started listening to The Guncle this morning on my way to work, and again on my way home— I keep chuckling out loud I love it I’d say if anyone saw me out walking they’d have thought I was 🤪🤪🤪 #booksky #audiobooks
So I’ve migrated from Goodreads to #StoryGraph, and I’ve switched from Audible to Libro.FM — slowly getting away from Amazon. I own a Kindle and still have KU and Prime. They’re next to go but need a good Kindle replacement. #booksky
#Booksky: If you haven’t already, export your data from Goodreads (an Amazon company) and import it into StoryGraph, a book-tracking app founded and led by a Black woman.

I got some awful news today about a very close family member so I probably won’t be posting anywhere for the next few days. I’ll still be lurking around reading your posts but I won’t be posting anything myself.
A copy of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros with a 3D printed dragon/lizard in front of it and a decorative skull to its right. There’s a candle lit in the upper right corner and the lighting/mood is a dark aesthetic.
Time to upset some people 🤷 but here’s my #review of #onyxstorm by Rebecca Yarros. Can’t please everyone. (Review in 3rd image) #booksky
That’s what i originally did (posted it on IG) and copy and pasted each paragraph into separate parts here. Lot of effort posting full review here 😖
Ok #booksky I need your help: how are we sharing our #bookreviews here — are we making graphics with our full review on it because I just made a 7 part post here with my newest review and I can’t be doing that every time 🫣💀
Pt.7: This is my favourite Grady Hendrix book to date. I didn’t realise how invested I had become with the book until the last twenty pages, and I actually found myself shedding a tear of happiness for how it all ended which is why I felt like this deserved a 5 star rating.
Pt.6: I loved the witchcraft element. I find Hendrix can go from 0-100 with his supernatural parts of his books very quickly but they are tastefully done here that we are not too far removed from the reality of the world. I found Hagar and Miriam were great anchors for bringing us back to Earth.
Part 5: The routines of the Home are quickly established and we learn how things work there on a daily basis. While we don’t get too much on any given character, we get enough to know their personalities and what makes them tick.
Part 4: I was invested in our MC, Fern from the very beginning. While we didn’t get too much of her story from before she arrives at the Home, we’re very much given the opportunity to learn what’s going on as she also learns what’s happening.
Part 3: In saying that, it is very important to point out it is clear that Mr Hendrix did his homework for this book as it comes across very educated. I couldn’t get over how detailed this book was when it came to the girls and what they were going through at different points of their pregnancies.
Part 2: There are also THREE very graphic delivery scenes, one of them more disturbing than the others. If you are in any way sensitive to this subject I recommend you not read this book as I know it’s a heavy subject for a lot of people.
Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix (Part 1)
Before I begin, if it wasn’t obvious from the description, the plot of this and MAJOR TW is PREGNANCY like from start to finish 90% of our mc’s are pregnant girls who are sent to a the Home to give birth and then to surrender them for adoption.

Good to know — I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a physical copy 👌🏻
I didn’t enjoy it when I listened to the audiobook but I have seen so many people raving about it. Maybe I need to retry it in physical form 👀
Or if you’re in #Ireland the app #BorrowBox is fantastic! It allows you to take out up 5 audiobooks AND ebooks at any time — all you need is a library card! #booksky
A hardback copy of Grady Hendrix’s Witchcraft For Wayward Girls without its cover sleeve on it sitting on a green cushion. It has an Amazon Firestick controller sitting on top of it.
20~ish pages left of this but I don’t want it to end — I think this is my fav Hendrix book to date. #booksky #currentlyreading
