I bet if we looked at who is funding/lobbying a push for this into schools, the trail would lead right back to these giant AI companies.
Absolutely terrible direction. You don't need schooling to know how to prompt. Literally just normal learning teaches you how to formulate questions...
Or maybe better, require them to spend a day cleaning up every room. Let them actually understand firsthand the work and frustration they're creating. A lesson that would have broader impact than just banning.
That being said, your announcement could have been worded clearer for the less tech savvy, as many seem to think it's going to scan/train on their data.
"It generates BSKY feed code with your described rules, the feed does not run on AI" would have sounded much better and illustrate what's going on
Don't you think the first step should have been making an intuitive, native, directly controllable approach akin to skyfeed.app ?
You don't need an LLM to generate custom-fit code, Typescript/C# have code generators that would allow efficient, user-defined feed algorithms to be constructed.
We can logically deduce how it works. A custom personal LLM for each person constantly processing feeds would require way more power than they'd ever hope to have..
All this is, is a way to automate what something like skyfeed.app allows you to do, setup a hardcoded feed attached to your profile...
Just because "the genie is out of the bottle" doesn't mean much. At the end of the day it matters what we collectively do or don't support.
Littering is "genie out of the bottle", we can't stop it entirely, but we rightfully stigmatize it because of its harms, mitigating how much it happens.
A rabbit in overalls and a goat in pants are sitting on the ground drawing pictures. The rabbit is saying βART POSES A THREAT TO CORPORATOLRATIC SYSTEMS BECAUSE A PURPOSE OF ART IS TO REMIND THE INDIVIDUAL OF THEIR INHERENT AUTONOMY.β, the goat adds βTHEIR HUMANITY.β

sorry for the spam but the dentist bills are WAY more than expected and i actually cant take care of them plus rent plus freelancing fees, so ill be opening emergency commission slots today. in the meantime theres regular comms open in vgen and my ko-fi is always open for tips if youd like to help π
You wouldn't be sharing your socials, you'd be linking the main post. The URL doesn't add any info about who is sharing it.
If you made your profile your real name tho, with your actual photo, that's just beggin to be found out tho haha
But just to be clear, if anyone clicked on a version of the survey that didn't just ask questions but asked you to also login in any kind of manner, then yes very much would change passwords just in case!
Highly doubt this. It would be a massive security hole if Discord was attaching the auth-token as a URL param to links you click, and you can see in the browser this isn't happening.
This feels like another case of someone attributing a coincidental event to the taking of this survey, or s-posting

Very cool skeb I got! The artist sent an appeal to me and I just let them cook, I had no idea what to expect! They also gave me the full body art and two different colorings. They really popped off. #ocart #vtuber #zenniart

I wouldn't even say it's a problem of userbase size, it's more like instead of hoping things pop-off, you instead just get more consistent interactions across posts instead, while the chance of something going "viral" is still there but less extreme/fickle.

When I started taking bsky seriously, I had about 5K followers here compared to my then 30K on twt, and despite still having "less" here by comparison, I get consistently more commissions, interest, and continued support here than on twt, with far less punishment for marketing myself. (+)
And despite Twitter popularizing hashtags, people are afraid to use them cause it's a negative by the Twitter algo now. Many have forgotten it's even a thing to use now lol... Rarity to see them used here despite it being very HELPFUL to use here.
The sad irony of the two ways you can read that sentence and them both being true...
Also, can use a different feed that doesn't show reposts!
OnlyPosts is one example, it's everything from people you follow, minus replies/reposts.
"Pin" it and it will be at the top of your app alongside your other feeds!
Lots of cool feeds in the "Feeds" menu I hope more people explore!
And can use hashtags and links in the main post without the algo punishing you for it! In fact it helps!
I swear that's part of the reason I rarely see hashtags now, people been spooked out of using them.
Could do an Imgur gallery, so people can scroll directly.
Gallery viewer on personal free website/blog?
Globalcomix seems deece, dunno what the submission process is tho.
There are of course more people in general there still and if the algorithm decides to, a post can really blow up. But when things trend here, actual engagement tends to be better.
It's like 2020 Twitter here, which was much lower numbers but artists were still doing very well.
