A statement from Trevor Potter, president of the nonpartisan nonprofit Campaign Legal Center, in response to the Trump administration bringing baseless criminal charges against Southern Poverty Law Center. The statement celebrates SPLC’s critical work defending civil rights, including the freedom to vote, and condemning the administration’s dismantling of civil rights protections and attack on SPLC.
Proud to work at @campaignlegal.org, and proud to stand with @splcenter.org in the face of the administration’s baseless attack on a pillar of the civil rights community.
SPLC brought down the Klan. They’ll win this fight too.
it's so nice to finally have highlights that aren't in grainy pre-HD footage, but these are still the best

Hey @edsbs.bsky.social @hollyanderson.bsky.social @shutdownfullcast.bsky.social did you know that Miami beat FSU, Florida, Ohio State, and Notre Dame last year? And did you know that the combined score of those games was 105-67 (plus fees)?
$105.67 x 12 months = $1268.04 on the board for the U
The federal law prohibiting federal armed agents from polling places has been on the books since the Civil War. If ICE shows up to the polls, voters should report it to their local election officials or call 866-OUR-VOTE if they have any issues. bit.ly/4s3UQDe
Did my best to make sense of the administration’s latest attack on elections with @jenrubin.bsky.social — the one thing that’s clear about this EO is that it’s 100% unconstitutional.
The administration is going full sovereign citizen
Campaign Legal Center is suing alongside @democracydefendersfund.org on behalf of LULAC, Secure Families Initiative and Arizona Students’ Association. Read more about our lawsuit: campaignlegal.org/update/campa...
Back at it again 💪
it is not too late to decide not to go through with your April Fool's joke. together, we can defeat April Fool's Day
Read @votebeat.org, listen to @danilang-votes.bsky.social
We are drafting the lawsuit right now. The Constitution gives authority over elections to the states and Congress. The president does not have the power he is claiming. We will see him in court.
Our coalition defeated President Trump's last illegal anti-voter executive order in court and we will defeat this unlawful and incoherent one, too.
Just like last time, this EO is unconstitutional.
The federal government does not run our elections. The President does not get to decide who can vote, or how.
We'll see him (back) in court.
BREAKING: Texas is relying on faulty and unreliable data from the Department of Homeland Security's "SAVE" system to illegally purge voters ahead of the midterms. This violates federal law. We’re filing a lawsuit.
Lmao got em
The Brennan Center and @campaignlegal.org filed a brief in the DOJ’s lawsuit against Kentucky to obtain the state’s voter file. The DOJ is seeking access to highly sensitive voter info, including driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers. Read:
The SAVE Act would make it harder for ALL Americans to exercise our freedom to vote. But it will disproportionately impact: Young/student voters Elderly voters Native American voters Military and overseas voters Disaster survivors Voters of color Voters with disabilities Rural voters
The SAVE Act would silence the voices of millions of Americans by imposing burdensome barriers to voter registration, forcing voters to jump through extra hoops.
The Senate must vote no on the anti-voter SAVE Act.
Congressional Republicans and Democrats are proceeding under the erroneous assumption that the SAVE America Act if passed would disproportionately hurt Democratic voters. Not so. It is bad because it will impose big burdens on some voters across the political spectrum and prevent almost no fraud.
These are not serious people.
These are the people working hand-in-hand with the Trump administration to try and take over our elections.
