I love Kroger slapping this label on all Reynolds products. I mean, it’s technically correct here in Richmond, but I suspect this is not what people have in mind when they say “shop local.”

I look forward to seeing how you wield this incredible power.

I think it’s honorable and wonderful and incredibly important work. And I admire you greatly for wanting to do something that most people wouldn’t ever want to touch. The world needs more people like you.

Not quite on the same level as that, but there’s a restaurant in Richmond, VA called “Lunch/Supper.” Tells you absolutely nothing, beyond the use of “supper” (and the city) being the slightest hint that it might be southern food.

Mazel Tov to you both! Here’s hoping for many, many more wonderful years together - and in the same place, soon.

Horribly inaccurate voicemail transcription telling me to shut up and talking about a “sex vice president” at a synagogue.

Horribly inaccurate voicemail transcription telling me to shut up and talking about a “sex vice president” at a synagogue.

This remains my all time favorite voicemail transcription. Let me tell you, if that was an actual Board position at my synagogue, I feel like a lot more people would be interested in getting involved.

My mom swears by them. Also peanut butter and relish.

Yup. At my law school, the posters would even say things like “and of course Chick Fil A will be served” or “don’t worry, Chick Fil A will be served.” It’s like it’s in their bylaws.

Seems like you need a secret hidden nap couch.

I won’t spoil it, but Nate’s speech at the end of The Cross My Heart Job is one of the coldest and most terrifying things I’ve seen on a show.

That’s something our professors sear into their heads. Hell, blaming your OWN assistant is bad enough. Blaming the judge’s? Yikes.

Bringing back one of the best jokes I’ve ever made, in honor of this year’s Super Bowl.

His promo where he bared his soul talking about being so excited in high school to make the football team, and then having people throw quarters at him and saying “pick up the money Jew boy” cut me DEEP. Way too close to home (complimentary).

Man, good thing Nintendo isn’t famously incredibly litigious. They’re not at all protective of their IP.

Kevin, I’m a big fan of your work and have always enjoyed following you. Please don’t use “Pharisee” as a stand in for someone who is deceitful or otherwise bad. The Pharisees were the ancestors of modern Judaism. Using it as a negative is tantamount to making “Jew” an insult.

Both of the links others have shared here are good, as is Amy-Jill Levine’s scholarship (which one of the links included). Thanks for asking!

I BRIEFLY scrolled through Ken’s responses and saw many comments exactly about that. Or the painting. Or both! And boy howdy, do the people who post that NOT appreciate when we say “hey, that story really sucks from our perspective.”

Sounds like it’s going to be amazing! I hope it goes incredibly well!

My favorite band is Gaelic Storm - a group that lives somewhere between a pub band and Irish rock. They, somehow, are also categorized as “world music.”

Sophie’s ever changing accent makes me laugh every time. Gina Bellman must have had so much fun shooting it.

One of my favorites. So many great episodes and incredible characters with earned moments (like Eliot finally using a gun). “The Rashomon Job” is one of my favorite episodes of TV, period, though not a first episode to watch - you need to know the characters a bit to really find it maximally funny.

Hi, I’m unplugging the light for a fish tank with wet hands and accidentally touching the plug while it was still partly in the socket.

I can’t speak to grad school generally, but I work in law school admissions. Under ABA requirements, all law schools have to disclose data which the ABA makes publicly available. Part of that data is a breakdown of offers and matriculants by gender and ethnicity. White men are doing just fine.

I say this as a Jewish person and a diehard Rams fan: I was horrified by the initial comments & glad to see this level of apology. Given everything I’ve see & heard about him, I think it’s overwhelmingly likely he’s telling the truth & means this. And the team needs to have a long talk with him.

I was teaching my students about pikuach nefesh a few weeks ago, but accidentally said pirsumei nisah. At the moment it was a funny slip of the tongue. Now the two are sadly connected.

Already seen quite a few with that. And claiming this is an Israeli false flag attack. We can’t even mourn our people without having motives interrogated.

It’s low on the list of terrible things about this court, but her constant presence in the minority means we have been denied so many great decisions written by her.
