Tulips at Bowood

Hello my ancient friend
Bradford on Avon looks splendid at this time of year
My Mum tipped me off the other day to watch the Christmas edition of Songs of Praise. It was filmed in this church in Croston, Lancashire which I only visited a few weeks ago. While visiting my mum for a week we took a cottage in Croston just across from the church.
Underneath those trees is a Neolithic long barrow on Tinhead Hill. It was excavated by John Thurnam in 1864 who noted it has been disturbed before but he did find human remains and shards of Windmill Hill pottery. This is one of 28 long barrows on Salisbury Plain Training Area.
Yes. They are casts of his actual body.
I was up on Cradle Hill earlier, picking up my son from the rifle ranges up there and drove past Kidnapper's Hole....it reminded me of a walk I did up there on summer, which I've described on the website: www.hiddenwiltshire.com/post/kidnapp...
Is that due to the different voltage in our electric systems? A kettle plugged into 240 volts is a rapid boil.
That brings back memories ! In my Uni days at Liverpool, a few of us would travel up to the Lake District to camp and hike for the weekend and a stop at Forton was a regular event
Thanks Sean. It was one of those perfect light days.
Although I'm known for being a Wiltshire lad, I actually grew up in the North West in the Lancashire / Merseyside hinterlands. I was up there a few weeks ago to visit my mum and took a trip to the beach at Crosby to see these Iron statues, 100 of which are permanently embedded in the sand.

It's actually modern. A true folly. I have no idea how it got planning permission !
I'm a politics free zone
Here’s the interior of St Thomas Beckett church in Salisbury as my opening contribution #wiltshire
I will do my best to assist with that !
thanks Peter
The Waggon and Horses in Beckhampton, Wiltshire. This is what English pubs should look like. Nice grub too !
thankyou !
Great - I will see if I can try to find all my old friends on here too. A lot of people have left the other place (understandably!)
Is there a way of copying your follower list from X on to here?
I'm still active in the other place, but do have an account here with hardly any followers. Let's get started with an unusual building in Wiltshire's county town of Trowbridge.
