These brilliant women, led by @helenpankhurst.bsky.social, connected last night to drive the change needed for a gender equal Parliament by 2028. @centenaryaction.bsky.social are campaigning to make it a reality.

Summer employment programmes   | Youth Endowment Fund Paid work placements for young people during the summer holidays.

New research: Summer employment programmes for young people reduced violence by 36%.

There are only a few studies on the impact of summer jobs, but we summarise their effects in the YEF Toolkit.

Sandi Toksvig made us all laugh, pointing out that this suffragette poster is printed on a tea towel... A great evening spent with supporters of Centenary Action, run by the fantastic @helenpankhurst.bsky.social

What is more energising than a room full of women (and some men) marking 16 days of activism against gender-based violence?!

Jess Phillips, MP, & Rt Hon Anneliese Dodds MP, reminded us that it IS possible to halve #VAWG.

I am a teeny tiny cog in a complex system, but I am hopeful.

Preventing Violence Against Girls, and Women   | Youth Endowment Fund How can the YEF Toolkit aim to support violence against girls and women? Find out in our blog from the YEF Head of Toolkit, Laura Knight

I wrote a blog in recognition of the international day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls (#VAWG).

I am both angry about the scale of violence against girls, & hopeful about the potential for interventions to reduce it.

It is hugely disappointing to read a press release from the Home Office that starts with 'Hooligans...' I was looking forward to moving on from the previous government's regular use of 'thugs' to describe young people that we know are often victims themselves.

David Farrington 1944-2024 | BPS A tribute from Graham Towl.

Saddened to hear about the death of Professor David Farrington. His work inspired so many of us in criminology, and he contributed a lot to the YEF Toolkit reviewing evidence on violence prevention.

Nice tribute here from Graham Towl.

Custody aftercare and resettlement programmes  | Youth Endowment Fund Programmes that seek to address children's needs and support reintegration into the community.

Custody aftercare and resettlement programmes on average have a moderate impact on reducing #violence, reducing convictions by 14%.
However, evidence is mixed and 6 studies show an increase in custody rates. Quality implementation is important (as always).

I've presented this paper easily 10 different times, nowhere have I come close to explaining it half as well as AI does it here.
Hard not to see how part of my job has become completely obsolete.
