I am not saying this is the solution. It does not help if it does not work for you.

For me it helps with certain things but I am also struggling with feeling unproductive when not doing anything.

U aren't alone in this. What I try to do and what helps me a bit. Is noting down what ideas/ hobbies my mind throw at me. Note it down how stupid it even looks. What I also do is just add the date of the thought. If it comes back many times I tend to it. if not, I consider it unimportant.
