And it’s getting to the point where people on THIS APP act like it’s a sinking ship when it’s not!!! The catastrophizing about Bsky/ATproto is annoying.

The FUD has gone too far. With the way some of these people talk about Bluesky you would think that it’s X. “They’re stuffing AI into Bluesky!!!” Where?? “It’s not decentralized!!” It takes like 5 minutes to move your PDS to Blacksky.

They talk more shit about Bluesky than they do X at this point

i've been afraid to say it on this website, but why's phone shouldn't have stopped working after "dipping it in the pool". i've dropped my phone in the pool and it still works. they are literally designed to be submersible for like 30 minutes or longer.

they are all obviously in kahoots and use the same actors, same sets, same video ideas, and are absolutely massive but.... Nobody cares? It's odd.

not the same ppl obviously but i'm equally as suspicious of the "sloptuber" channels that are absolutely massive on youtube like topper guild/zhong/etc. there are like 10 of them and they all copy each other, getting tens of millions of views but have seemingly ZERO cultural relevance.

It... can't be!! The bluesky team must have hacked into Mastodon, deployed Claude and vibe coded a DDOS! I'm very smart. /j

Two panel comic.
On the first panel Sonic the Hedgehog asks Yoshi (from Super Mario series) and Kirby (from the titular series) "so... you guys can eat ANYTHING?" Both Yoshi and Kirby reply "yeah pretty much" and "it's kinda our whole thing" respectively. Sonic says "interesting..."
On the second panel they are standing nearby Arby's. Sonic says to them "Oh come on, you said "anything". Yoshi and Kirby both answer with "there are limits".

I have a much bigger problem with platforms actively selling user content to AI companies (Reddit for example). Because they are actively making money off of YOUR content and giving an AI company direct access to it.

Bluesky doesn't do anything like that.

Bluesky (the service) does not feed your posts into AI. However, posts made on the protocol are public for anyone on the internet to see, and could be scraped by AI systems.

Here's the thing though: this happens pretty much everywhere online and is not a Bluesky/AT Protocol exclusive issue

I don’t know what they put into that specific type of Apple Keyboard but they ALWAYS end up turning that nasty cheddar cheese color. Luckily they didn’t use that plastic on the actual Macs themselves though, those usually stay bright white.

No problem! Just a bit of a miscommunication that’s all. :)

Fair enough, I thought you were talking about Bluesky specifically (which many on here were). I know AWS has had AI-slop related outages in the past so that might be a possibility.

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Whatever Bluesky is running on top of the servers would not cause catastrophic hardware failure. And they're certainly not using AI on the server itself to administrate it, that would be ridiculous. It really was just a provider issue.

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

But... it wasn't though. It was an upstream provider issue. bsky.app/profile/did:...

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Also, let me be clear, I'm not saying that they don't use AI to program aspects of their software but I also highly doubt that they are just "raw dogging" it and running whatever Claude spits out and throwing it into production.

Yeah, but we know that the outage wasn't a software issue. It was, in their own words, an "issue with an upstream service provider", I.E. "Not Bluesky"! Most likely an ISP issue or something.

If it was bad software that caused it, the issue would be far more widespread than US-East.

Let me also be clear before I’m yelled at— I’m not defending AI slop. But like, this was a classic infrastructure issue.

2 weeks ago 6 0 1 0

The article is poorly written because “vibe coding” was not what caused the issue. It was a server outage on the east coast. It’s also worth noting that it didn’t effect the entire Bluesky network because of its decentralized nature, just folks who’s PDS was created on the US-East server.

That’s insane especially considering they were like $60 brand new. Also do they even replace the battery? Because if not then you will have like at best 30 minutes of play time and maybe a fun “spicy pillow” after a few charges.
