It would cause unrest among the population. There could be demonstrations. The allies (Kiri, Kumo, Iwa, and Suna) could get wind of it and Konoha would suffer massive loss of credibility.
And maybe, Konoha will also lose everything after all...
All it takes is for one to escape, go to Konoha, and cause unrest there with the information. If the residents find out that the Hokage and higher-ups are working with the person who killed the Hokage, the greatest hero in the history of the village and the ninja world, it would be devastating.
Theory #3: Eye to eye, mind to mind.
As we learned in this chapter, Mamushi can obtain information just by looking into people's eyes.
Konoha wants to set a trap at Eida's house, but they could end up trapping each other because it's a perfect opportunity for Mamushi to use his abilities.
Who could die? To be honest, I can't imagine anyone at the moment.
I would say Team 7 is safe. Team 10 too, actually, although I'm not sure about that.
It could be Konohamaru or Eida, even though I hope that won't happen.
Theory #2: Deadly Rescue
Rescuing Kobu could inadvertently lead to a death. The first of the main crew?
Kobu will be in the hospital and certainly won't be monitored 24/7. Jura is in the village and Code must still be lurking somewhere.
If Kobu is threatened, he could spill internal secrets.
Who will come next? A lackey, more or less. Remember, 99% of people see Boruto as a traitor. It will be someone else who no longer feeds Boruto confidential information. This will cause Konoha to sink even deeper into misery.
Theory #1: The Puppet in Konoha?
Kobu doesn't seem to think very highly of Shikamaru. I'm sure he suspects something. If Shikamaru messes up the interrogation or blames Konoha for the assassination attempt, Kobu could go to IkkyΕ« (feudal lord) and have Shikamaru removed from office.
After Koji meant that Kobu should be eliminated, I thought about what might happen. We look at it from Kobu's perspective. Which means:
-Naruto is dead.
-Boruto killed him and is a traitor.
