History has mocked the Trojans for being gentle, trusting souls who believed in their hearts that the big horse was a gift from their friends

Tried one of my old cardio workouts from my fighting days today. Got through it okay, was feeling pretty good about it, then gave myself a stitch by sneezing. Getting old is so cool I love it

You won't believe this but I'm having trouble with English trains. Been stuck for over 2 hours in a place called Grantham (?)

Hearing lots of English people talking about 'Paddy's Day' this week. Struck me as odd at first, but what could be more English than stealing something from the Irish?

Another appalling example the French mainstream elite had given up on countering the resurgence of the far right (or really was never that concerned)...

Already classified as 'extrême gauche' ahead of the municipal elections 🫠

Coming back to Quentin Deranque, these are some of his tweets, uncovered by Mediapart, if anyone thought that when I called him a neo-fascist I was being some Woke Leftist Calling Everyone He Doesn't Like A Fascist. It is *unhinged* that this man was given a minute's silence in the National Assembly

Definitely - funny to see the EEN go all 'Dundee man lost at sea' over it but overall really sad to see 🥲

It gives me no pleasure to say this, but a points deduction for both teams is the only appropriate solution I fear 👀

Red Lines: The death of Quentin Deranque, the demonisation of the French left, and far-right mainstreaming (Fraser McQueen) - Reactionary Politics Research Network This article by Fraser McQueen discusses the demonisation of the left in the aftermath of Quentin Deranque's death

Yesterday the main opposition party to Macron and the far right in France was classified as "extreme left"

This is a further step in the demonisation of the left and the concurrent mainstreaming of the far right

@frasermcqueen.bsky.social's piece is illuminating on this

I wrote for Red Lines @reacpolrn.bsky.social about the killing of French neo-fascist Quentin Deranque & the demonisation of the left/mainstreaming of far-right politics. Grateful to all three editors, and to @aurelmondon.com for the invitation! Link below:

🟥 Red Lines 🟥

'The reaction, from far right to centre left, to Deranque’s death has been nothing short of shameful, particularly at a time when the far right and fascism are increasingly powerful'.

7 years (!!) today since the happiest picture of me ever taken. Do not miss this at all tbh, a sport that needs you to constantly stress over your ability to make weight (even when not fighting soon) was a terrible mix with my character/brain wiring, but lots of good memories/lessons from it too.

Turned up to a lecture theatre this AM to find it was locked. Waited in the rain with 90 students for 10 minutes. Estates got there and opened the door, which was apparently unlocked after all, very easily. A story that sums up my general hapless vibe perhaps better than any other.

Yeah the 'beurette' trope def seems relevant! Nacira Guénif's distinction between beurette/française voilée too (in La République mise à nu par son immigration, 2006)
