I am in town for a funeral and my mother is in the hospital. I walked to the coffee shop while they were running tests and saw this person in a courtyard just standing there, staring off toward the tree.
In a profound way I understood.
As someone with ADHD, it’s nice that I now have a hard deadline to finish my WIP but that also means the tendency to procrastinate is STRONG.
At my first sleep away camp: AKA writers retreat and so far I’m feeling good. 😊
Not my brain thinking up yet another book idea 😩
I refuse to start on it before I finish at least ONE of my 6 current WIP’s.
The weather is warmer so I want to be outside, but all the things I need to be doing are inside. Obviously that means I’ll sit on my porch swing and contemplate life instead.
Gettting critiques back for my WIP and I cried reading the good feedback and was fine reading the “negative.” (Let’s face it, it’s not negative but you know what I mean)
I was on there doing pretty well but when the US bought our side of TT the new terms and services were questionable about AI training and the algorithms/suppression of content are horrible.
It’s too bad because it actually is a great place to market yourself and get info out.

Life is a collaboration not a competition. Someone else succeeding doesn’t mean you can’t too. There is no first place on this journey.
Going back to “fix” the rough draft after cleaning up the ending means I also have to figure out where I info dumped and correct that, too.
This is fun, right?
Going to a writers group and only getting 251 words on the page in 2 hours isn’t great… but sometimes we just need to be around other people hustling in the same way.

Working through a rough patch in my WIP just so I can get to the scene I’ve been waiting for the whole time is like looking in the freezer before bed and finding no ice cream. Then your husband comes home with some.

For the first time in a while, I have the weekend with no hubby or five year-old. Today I am doing laundry preemptively so I will be able to procrastinate doing real work by putting clothes away.
2/2 The person may never read the thing I wrote—quite often I delete or throw away the “essay” but I’ve processed and that’s the helpful part.

Writing is something that helps me process. I’ll draft an email/letter to someone, expressing every feeling. But in order to do that I have to find the right words. Label each feeling accurately and dissect what I want the future to look like because of them.

I’ve been thinking that too. It was fun and there are so many great creators on there. But then I remember the new company, terms and conditions, and how much it’s changed.
It sucks, but I’m gonna start doing it on here or instagram (ugh, Meta)
