he has started production on a new original anime - while it is not an announcement for a continuation of Stars Align, it is great news that he has returned to the industry after his momentary break. We still have hope! #MakeTheStarsAlign

How Anime as a medium handled trans, nonbinary and related gender identities has always varied wildly. Akane however... gave a damn. He wanted to hear our struggles.. hear about our lives and wanted to do right by us.

I can never thank him enough....!

Kazuki Akane... who helped to foster the first generation of Webgen artists, a pioneer of anime's digital revolution.... could have made whatever he wanted.

and in the end, he chose to make Stars Align... and he was dead set on doing it right. i cannot thank him enough for that...!

An aesthetic show with a great soundtrack and creative direction courtesy of Kazuki Akane. This show needs appreciation as while it has faults it was cruelly cut in half by the studio late into production. Also enby rep!

Doing a rewatch and just…can’t believe a show with such strong messages could get dumped before reaching the finish line.

Kazuki Akane deserves to finish what I consider his masterwork.

I wish I could fund three more cours of Hoshiai no Sora. Akane Kazuki deserved so much better.

It seems like it did the trick! Here's hoping his new series gets the attention it deserves, and that he gets a second chance at finishing Stars Align in the coming years 🙏✨️

He just announced that he started production on a new original anime! It isn't a continuation for Hoshiai no Sora, but if this anime does well, it may be the stepping stone he needs to get the second half funded 🙏✨️

Being into animation is suffering because you have to be ready for your heros to disappoint you.

Which is why Kazuki Akane to me, is one of the sole exceptions to that rule.

Someone who genuinely cared and put the time in to properly tell a queer story.

Id follow him into hell.

Will be eternally mad about how he got fucked over in regards to Stars Align, he and the show deserved better.
