Hahahahahaha, I love that they end it with "take care." Like, good luck with having non-stop poops, hopefully you'll be okay.

However, these records did eventually gain newer fans and have become something fans look back on fondly, revisiting them and realizing they weren't as "bad" as they thought the first time around.

Just a thought that was running through my head.

It didn't take long for most of the bands to go back to their roots, semi-quickly releasing another album that either blended the two sounds or completely lost their emo sound. Maybe this was due to their fans, them moving to a different record label, or they were just experimenting.

Even the bands themselves didn't know what to do, reading the crowd and going mostly with their ska sound and only throwing in a few of the newer ones. Though, it could be argued this is usual for a show. Personally, I don't think it was the case.

I think it split their fans, and maybe brought in new ones. Having been at a few shows after the change, you could tell the crowd certainly had mixed feelings. Chants to play older songs, some boos, and some having fun.

The Impossibles, The Suicide Machines, Telegraph, Less Than Jake, and a few others all released albums in the early 00's that were completely different than what they did before. Could partly be due to the third wave crash, the rise in popularity of emo, or they were just trying something different.

Apparently I'm feeling like waxing on this a little bit... This album came out at an interesting time, with a number of ska punk bands ditching their ska sound and going more post-punk/emo.

Hahahahahaha, I saw that, too! And was super confused...

I've been on a major The Impossibles kick lately. Partly a nostalgic trip, partly because they are sorta back. Anyway, this song rules. music.youtube.com/watch?v=_8Z5...

Last night I went to a screening of Mothra and a discussion about the novelization with translator Jeffery Angles at This is a Bookstore in Kalamazoo. It was a blast to watch the movie in a bookstore and learn more about it and writing the book!

...And Out Come the Toys is a year old!!!! My little punk take on Willy Wonka being a villain, and his factory full of murder and mayhem!! I had a ton of fun writing this and playing with the movie's beats.

@draft2digital.bsky.social has made the inane decision to charge a yearly fee to anyone that make less than $100 per year, indicating that such accounts may be AI slop. This punishes indie publishers in particular, but it especially punishes members of a shared revenue project. (1/5)

So, thinking about this... What is the best way for a self pub author to sell DRM free ebooks? Open to any all suggestions.

So, for a number of years this was on TV, on or right near my birthday when I was a kid, meaning I watched it every year. This movie is so much part of the fabric of my childhood, it's wild! I also think I have a picture somewhere in front of the train that was at Universal!

So there's a movie coming out inspired by ...And Out Come the Wolves, which, totally unrelated, I swear, is very similar to the title of my novella ...And Out Come the Toys. There's gotta be a way I can use this!

Yeah, just do your art. You don't need AI to do it. You can make your own cover, or find an artist. You can write your own story.

I will not back your stuff or support you if you use AI. It's pretty simple.

The thing about there needing to be a path of redemption for people who have been “canceled” is: there already is a path to redemption and it’s called “redeeming yourself.” The path is open! No one is blocking that! You just have to do it!

I was lucky enough to get to read @mariadongwrites.bsky.social Aviary early and it's so damn good! There's a Gothic manor, a great mystery, and ton of very prescient commentary. I couldn't stop reading! books.severnhouse.com/aviary

Happy Trans Day of Visbility! Most of our lineup is Nonbinary and we wrote DANG IT, BOBBY! about being AMAB and gender expansive with the toxic panopticon of masculinity breathing down our necks. “Be a real man”? It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you.

If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can.

Everyone give this a share after.
