I also need y'all to understand that in making the choice to go to the unaffiliated hospital, my top surgery risk is *much* higher than it would've been if I could get it nearby.
Imagine packing your own wounds and holding pressure for an HOUR to drive to the only ER that can properly help you.
The only reason my healthcare has been unaffected is because I am going to not the closest in-network hospital, but to the nonreligious hospital over an hour away. The one closest to me? Would've just cancelled the two surgeries I've been fighting for over 2 YEARS to get.
And I'm a lucky one.
