i love making these silly little houses with Arex_V's modular medieval fantasy pack... How many more until it's enough variation for a big city???

Still missing a few environments like a swamp and a mountainous area, but overall i'm pretty happy with how the scenes are turning out! #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart
And here it is on a real scene! i think it actually works pretty well!
prototyping a HUD for teleporters, edge of screen transitions, etc. When a player approaches something i want them to know where they are going, it shows an arrow and where it goes at the bottom of screen! Should hopefully help a lot of playtesters feel less lost. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Now this looks like somewhere a fight happened. Almost finished with all the little marks and scorch marks left behind where abilities were cast during combat!

Ah yeah putting mechanics and features in while you don't know the scope yet is a killer, i'm guilty of that. what's got you stuck so far?
You can make crochet or diamond painting and i don't think as many people will have nostalgia for that. Pixel art is nice and orderly and is a whole art style in of itself, i think nostalgia plays a small part in it but it holds on its own quite well with many demographics even non nostalgic ones
I always go for sepperate where possible, and if they don't I'll just edit them out myself, but i guess it depends a lot of what the game needs
Sound, animations, Music. It's all coming together! One of my favourite testing spots in the game turned into my favourite to show off constantly. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Heck yeah!
More messing around with the dialogue UI! Testing out having it at the bottom with the other corner for dialogue options, also finally made some variants for hovered and pressed and finally got simple controller support going! #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Its uhh.... it's definitely a glow up!
@ansimuz.bsky.social 's space packs on itch are absolutely insanely good looking. After kitbashing them just a tiny bit, i can now swap out the placeholder art i had on the intro! (check the comments for the placeholder)

Okay, hopefully reaching the end soon of the ranger's skilltree (who am i kidding, tomorrow ill have even more ideas for skills.)
A mana dump ability, Charged shot! Hits and pierces every target in a straight line and deals extra damage for every point of mana spent. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Too late. You're hired.
Okay! There's now healthbars on the turn order, AND a little arrow for the turn names as the turns start!
#gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
ok, i will. how much?
Okay, been a few days without any posts, it's been a lot of adding sounds to the game, which is a bit hard to show through gifs. But now i've got something visible! a new whirlwind attack to replace cleave at higher skill levels!

I'm so glad i got this out still today. Wanted to do something to celebrate Teto's birthday! Enjoy some pixel art of the best chimera out there.

Rushing to get this out before the day ends, i gotta celebrate a birthday

And that's the shooting animation done! Gigantic thanks to @cupohjoe.bsky.social
for working on the animation with me, and the awesome base by @bananannertoast.bsky.social !
Almost all character animations for the game are done! Now to actually start drawing more characters.
#gamedev #indiedev
And that's another ability implemented, now with the sword sprites done it's open season to start working on the strenght path ability kit properly, giving them an AOE and ways to debuff the enemies. (Ignore the hero not having a combat animation sprite yet) #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Okay that's done for today, here it is really fast so you don't get to view it properly. With this almost all the starting weapons have sprites and animations.
#gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
Correctus.
ahhh, the good old *Villager spawning noise*
Really! I could have sworn more games did it like this. I took the idea from some gunslinger class guide for dungeons and dragons with trickshots
