The Vindication of Bidenomics Are we finally ready to acknowledge its successes?

"America at the end of the Biden years was still a hugely unequal society, but less so than it had been for a generation." paulkrugman.substack.com/p/the-vindic...

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announces it has found a buyer to keep the newspaper open Owners of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said they have found a buyer who had agreed to keep the newspaper open, less than a month before it was due to shut down.

The nonprofit that runs the successful, Pulitzer-winning Baltimore Banner is going to take over the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Of all the possible outcomes here, this is likely the best we could have hoped for.

Has Francis ‘insulted’ American Catholics? If Thomas Weinandy’s screed is the product of a traditional Catholic faith, who would want any part of it?

Francis was a hater and personally did his best to crush conservative American bishops. Leo is just picking up where his buddy left off www.commonwealmagazine.org/has-francis-...

i think it's good if the Catholic Church ends up at war with the Americanist heresy

Quite apart from the severity of the alleged wrongdoing, irrespective of that, I'm not sure I've ever seen a politician's campaign/career implode this fast. It usually takes the loyalists and staffers at least a bit longer to jump ship. Remarkable.

They support Swalwell, want him to win, and could not care less about what he's accused of. That's the entire story of what they're up to.

that Ben Sasse interview is a weightless People-magazine like nothingburger of a chit-chat between two men who somehow still refuse to look reality in the face despite one of them actively dying from cancer.

Good point from @davidrlurie.com over at @atrupar.com's place: By surrounding himself with people who are singularly devoted to remaining in Trump's good graces, he only insures the perpetual reinforcing of his worst instincts in a downward spiral of sycophancy:

i firmly believe that kennedy wants preventable diseases to rip through american communities since, in his warped mind, those who survive without vaccines will have proven themselves “healthy.”

To have any hope at all of not getting our shit absolutely rocked, the build up of troops necessary to get a foothold anywhere in the vicinity of Iran would take months and months. And given how Trump went after this, we'd be doing that under missle fire. This was never an option.

I want to posit right now that there's a lot of bloviating about a very simple reality

Trump could not politically afford to put boots on the ground. The Iranians knew this. We treat Trump like this special case where political gravity does not apply.

Not sure how you look at today and think that

25th amendment. Impeachment. I will support any avenue to remove Donald Trump from office. We cannot leave this man in charge of America’s nuclear weapons as he threatens to end an entire civilization. And Congress must not fund this reckless administration.

everything we are seeing now is the consequence of having a political environment in which indifference to the deaths and suffering of other people - even by the state whose supposed responsibility is to safeguard their welfare - is a superpower rather than a political liability

South Carolina Upset Connecticut, But Not As Much As Dawn Staley Upset Geno Auriemma | Defector A college basketball coach in the middle of a meltdown is extended grace that generally wouldn’t be granted to any other adult having a tantrum in public. On the merits, there’s nothing much to say on...

I am in the Easter Sunday blog chair at Defector today, and am getting things started by writing on a topic near and dear to me: a sputtering and extremely upset man saying "it is what it is." defector.com/south-caroli...

that the president is making unhinged threats of war crimes on easter sunday should be an immediate presidency-ending scandal and that the media is rewriting this as just a normal negotiating tactic should be a career-ending scandal for everyone involved

2 weeks ago 3015 676 21 16

It is quite objectively a news story that the most prestigious media outlet in the world is deleting the president’s statements to conceal his insanity in a war crime threat, and other news outlets can report that story very easily in a way that could both inform their audience and peel off readers
