Who wants functional dash gauges? Everyone!
In this video, Dave gives a rundown of the hardware being used to bring the FrontiEV gauge cluster to life. In short, its an Arduino with several specialized shields going in to replace various signals from original, and now missing, pieces like the ECU

Digital rendition of a gage face for kW
Bridging 2000 and 2026. ⚡️📟
We’re keeping the FrontiEV’s analog dash alive using a custom Arduino stack to "translate" motor data to the original needles. We even designed a custom kW gauge face to replace the tach.
OEM feel, zero emissions. 🌴

We've upped the ante with precision scans and drawings of the 60kwh battery modules. Upcoming scan will determine if these designs will fit under the bed of #FrontiEV. More inspiration for your own build coming soon!
More posts coming now that flooding is over 🤞 #WaialuaStrong

Why go through the trouble?
Lower center of gravity = better handling.
Full use of the truck bed again.
Cleaner, more "OEM-plus" install.
Which layout looks cleaner to you? Swipe through and let us know if you’d go through the effort of a shock relocation to save a battery box! 👇
We’re looking at 2-box solution instead of 3. The catch? It requires relocating the driver’s side rear shock from the front to rear of the axle🛠️
We won’t which wins until we open the original Leaf+ pack to get accurate module dimensions. Until then, we’re modeling two layouts and two HV disconnects
Engineering Update: Relocating shocks to make room for Volts. ⚡️📦
We’ve been heads-down in CAD redesigning the FrontiEV battery enclosures. The goal? Move the batteries from the truck bed to under the frame.

Most people see an electric truck and think about the motor. We think about the battery!
To get the FrontiEV battery under the bed, we’re designing custom enclosures. This isn't just "making it fit", its about meeting vehicle needs!
Question: would you eliminate the third box and 16% of capacity?
Is your car a good EV conversion candidate?
In our new blog post we break down:
• What types of vehicles tend to work well
• When a vehicle is not a good candidate
• How we evaluate your specific car or truck

Thinking about an EV conversion in 2026?
This year we’re focusing on a small number of well-executed builds.
If you’ve been thinking about converting a vehicle you really love, now is a good time to start the conversation.

Charlie Brown and I (and some friends) had permits to get trees from the Mokulē'ia Forest Reserve. So here's this year's Christmas tree loaded up and ready to head home!

We try to do our part in putting EVs on the road!

An older article, but much remains true. Generally, EVs produce less carbon but highly dependent on electric grid's level of coal generation. Recycling lithium batteries is a growing option, but we prefer to reuse them in our RV conversions!
Bye bye #Miata1EV! We hardly new you!what a great platform to learn on. Looking forward to a real build on a Miata in better condition.

#Miata1EV subframe is out! Everything came off pretty easily except the swaybar endlinks. The LSD is still installed and may try to sell that as-is. Otherwise, we can pull and sell separate. It's not new, but only installed and never used!
Saving #Miata1EV subframe. We are convinced the Leaf motor and gear reduction will fit here! While in between builds, we are going to figure this out!
#Miata1EV disassembly update. The HV components are out! Next are some pieces to sell or keep for the next NA/NB Miata build!
We see more Miatas in the future, so we are keeping some key pieces. First to come out are the #coilovers! How low can you go?

We support this idea! We think you should look further into it. fuel2electric.com is a good source to get started for info, parts, and builders. The EV conversion ecosystem is growing! We buy parts from Brat Industries for our Leaf-based conversions. Their Brat conversion is very similar!
Great idea! We have a potential customer who only wants Tesla parts. It would be great to get his vehicle on a lift and hold this to get mounts fabricated!
Do it!!
EV West now has a subframe for a pretty clean 914 conversion. And yes, some Tesla parts, but at least you're not buying new! Our first conversion (aka learning project) was a 1999 Miata. We prefer Nissan Leaf components over Tesla or new and they have plenty of power for those size cars!
We believe there are now kits for Ford E350s, but that's without research. With money, there are new electric Transits from Ford. We think an EV conversion might work for you at half the cost, and you keep your current van! You should definitely look for a local shop or even DIY
See? We're not the only ones that think EV conversions offer the real value!
We think EV conversions are the answer! Our recent build is a Nissan Frontier 4x4 with Leaf+ power, more than stock! 250lb-ft of torque may not be enough for full-size plowing, but Tesla motors are plentiful and sound like a good fit. Check fuel2electric.com for ideas, parts, and builders!
That's our belief too!
