my local rep was appointed. an anti-choice democrat. the options suck, but we didn't even get a choice. hard not to feel like none of it matters when the broligarchy rules anyway.

Thinking billionaires will solve our problems IS our problem.

It should've ended when he made fun of a disabled reporter.
To this day I remember how I felt watching it on TV.
To this day.

I often want to email her, demanding an apology or an explanation. How did she get it so wrong? But I think the real answer, and the saddest one too, is that she was always that person. Ignorance and ego driving selfish choices by a whole lot of women who look suspiciously like me.

Imagine my heartbreak when she supported ignorance and evil in 2016. Still, she was willing to admit she was wrong. One of the few.

We stopped speaking when she wanted to 'wait and see' once again when Barrett was confirmed.

She helped me find and use my voice, and then gaslit me once I did.

In college, I had a favorite professor. She, like so many, had another job that supported her teaching. She was an expert in public relations, working for a large hospital system. She appeared to be a strong feminist role model. A strong, feisty woman from Baltimore.

usually we meet at the library for free, but a progressive board member I met through local advocacy offered us ongoing meeting space at a local museum. we will maintain a connection with the library through our new book club.

to prepare for the event, we asked group members to bring empty plastic jugs to the last meeting. one person cut them, then passed them to me and I put drain holes in. we used 2-3 cu ft of soil for around 30 jugs. less than $20 total

we provide a seed library at our events, so people could plant exactly what they wanted. others brought their own seed collections. lots of flowers in our community will come from this event. #gardensky /2

yesterday our mutual aid group hosted around 20 people for a hands on - in the dirt - winter sowing workshop. We had all ages from an infant to retirees, all stages of life and even some folks not from our area drove in to be a part of it. It was lively and productive, and my heart is so happy. 1/

Yesterday was a hard one. There's so many happening all at once, but some things jump out and feel particularly awful. A number of those yesterday. Nothing is getting healthy this way.

I hate that these are the dudes swimming in wealth. What a waste, most functional people with more money than they ever need would relax, take a vacation, enjoy life. No this MFer wants to destroy our lives instead.

The cover of my book Bad Company: Private Equity and the Death of the American Dream, which shows an abandoned Toys R Us under an ominous sky.

I am extremely freaking thrilled to announce that Bad Company is *officially* available for preorder wherever you buy books. (I am linking to Bookshop but buy it wherever!) I worked so, so hard on this book, and it would mean a ton to me if you ordered it. bookshop.org/a/109816/978...

But, could they prove that they are not, in fact, devil incarnate? I think that would be an interesting argument to watch. The data would probably not help...

It must first be untrue, correct? Because all the things I've said about health insurance companies who profit off the suffering and deaths of regular people are true.

Melinda Gates seems to be moving differently than the rest. I don't know if its enough, but I like that she's showing these man babies that you could at least pretend to do better.

Eric Adams pretty much agreed to sidestep NY sanctuary protections, & make his city's immigrant residents more vulnerable to iCE, in pursuit of naked personal gain & a shield from corruption charges.

some of us have been yelling about it for 10 years now, but the sad fact is that we've been an oligarchy long before now. none of our politicians work for regular people, the freedoms we had were for the select few only. and now, what do we do? project 2025 is here
