Chicago's organizing community is mourning the untimely passing of Michael Caga-anan Aguhar following a medical emergency last week. His partner, Irina, and their toddler, Zoya, are going to need so much help and support to get through this. Please join me in donating if you can.

Thank you so much!
I’ve slowly been making new work for my portfolio. One of the assignments I gave myself was to create an illustration or two for each season. Here is one of my winter pieces.
That means so much to hear, thank you!
Horizontal illustration of a protest for Palestinian liberation. At the font is a young girl in a fuscia jacket and light blue jeans sitting on her dad’s shoulders waving a Palestinian flag. Her dad is looking up at her and wearing a kuffiyeh. To their left is the child’s mom wearing a mustard color top and a pink hijab. Behind them are a crowd of people, one of them is holding a sign that says “free Palestine” and another is holding a sign that says “Gaza is in our hearts.”
I’m still not certain of what my role is as an illustrator in our struggle for a more just world, but one thing I’m thinking a lot about is how we talk to kids about everything going on, from ICE targeting schools to genocide of children abroad, and where they see themselves in all of it.
Thank the socialist and workers movements of the past for demanding and even dying for better versions of all those things. Thank a democrat for the watered down centrist version you got.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
Tonight we went outside with candles for Alex Pretti & all those who’s lives ICE has destroyed. We ran into two of our neighbors & ended up singing All You Fascists Bound to Lose together on our little street corner. A small thing, but a feeling I will hold on to as we continue to resist.
Better yet white people plan with other white neighbors how we are going to protect polling places, organize escorts for folks, etc. The state isn’t going to save us.
Off to visit my family and solidify my role as the weird arts and crafts aunt who insists of giving hand made gifts

Photo of Uday, a 19 year old Palestinian boy and Kemal, a 5 year old Palestinian boy on a dark green background. Text reads “Winter has arrived in Gaza. The cold, rainy seasons means 19 year old Uday must source the clothes his family of seven needs to keep warm. Uday’s little brother, Kemal, recently started school. In addition to clothes, Uday hopes to get him school supplies. As always, they also needs funds for food, water, medicine, and shelter. Your donation helps a family who has already endured so much survive another winter.” There is a QR code and link to the family’s fundraiser: https://www.tinyurl.com/udayfund

My little sister asked for some colorful wall art for her birthday so yesterday I made her this gouache painting on a piece of recycled wine mom wall decor from the thrift store. This was really fun and I’m quite happy with how it turned out.

My crochet work is still a bit wobbly but with every project I’m learning. For example, I figured out while making this bunny that up until now I have been crocheting everything inside out. Oops 😅 #crochet #crochetbeginner #amigurumi

Text says, Bid to have me illustrate your favourite bird! Receive a print of it too! Images show an original illustration by loadofolbobbins of a Barn Owl in flight. The perspective is as if you were looking up underneath the owl as it’s swooping with claws beneath it to catch pray. It’s wings are together behind it caught in the upward flapping motion. The colouring of the owl is a combination of creams and browns with dark speckled markings across the body, underwing and head. The head of the owl is a slightly richer, almost orange brown. One big black eye can be seen looking beyond it’s claws, intensely focused and there’s a trail of brownish feather beneath it which look almost like a stripe that leads to the small pointed yellow beak. The background is inky wash in dark blue. Underneath this is an image of a hand drawing with an apple pencil on an ipad a sketchy illustration of a bird. Creatives for Sudan.

I’m really enjoying the process of crocheting. Thanks to adhd, however, I keep thinking that I’m following a pattern exactly and yet have made 3 very different sized cats…😑
Victorian era Christmas was way spookier and they had a tradition of telling ghost stories. I say we bring that back.
My reach is really limited here so if you’re able to share this it really helps! Big thanks to the folks who already have ❤️❤️

I’m pretty sure I missed a stitch or two so they’re a little wonky. But I’m still quite happy with how these two cute little cat loafs for my nieces turned out.
