One of my students in the discrete math undergrad course asked me for a book on tournaments.

I recommended them to check Ivanhoe first, and then The Hunger Games for a modern take.

I loved numerical analysis when I was an undergrad. So full of gotchas. I especially loved how changing the order in which you execute things, though theoretically equivalent, makes a lot of difference. Right after discrete math this class brought is back to Earth really hard.

My all-time favorite band is Iron Maiden, but the one I think would best fit the tone and theme for the kind of stuff I'm currently writing is Thirty Seconds to Mars.
