Turns out accidentally spaying your bathroom sink with oven cleaner kind of works. Is it a life hack? Absolutely not. Did it clean the taps? More or less 🤫 #protip #edibuddies

Just a simple #FreelanceLife appreciation post. Woke up to snow on the ground 😭 - but I don't have to go to an office and can ease into my day. First: a few extra minutes to enjoy my tea. #edibuddies

I'm excited to attend the Mar 19 @acesediting.bsky.social webinar on developing an idea into a full-fledged presentation. I'm prepping for a new business phase that will include public speaking. It'll be uncomfortable, but valuable. No doubt I'll be taking lots of notes! #Introvert #Edibuddies

I've been powering through the last nine weeks, with anywhere from one to three deadlines each week. I've finally had an opportunity to come up for air, look around, and let me tell you... whoever was living my life for the past two months has A LOT of explaining to do.🫣 #AmEditing

I avoid political discussions on social media, but just need to say that I'm re-reading Orwell's 1984 and it is all sorts of 😬. To be fair, I'm balancing that out with A Mouth Full of Salt by Reem Gaafar (not uplifting, just not as doomsy). Hope you've got some balance in your current and TBR piles!

AI can be a great starting point to shape a grant application. However, I recently edited an AI-generated proposal. Sure, the punctuation was spot on, but there were numerous issues to address in style. Use AI to help outline the work ahead—then write.

It’s Tri-Agency grant season! Reminder: your research ideas will go further when they’re clearly aligned with funder priorities. Show how these are woven into your research questions, methods, partnerships, and outcomes. (The same goes for EDI!)

Editing tip: Read through your piece and discard “just,” “very,” and “really.” Consider them optional decorations—like Elf on the Shelf—not traditional writing essentials.

If your research doesn’t go beyond journals, consider writing for a new audience! Funders, community partners, and policy-makers may also benefit from your work, which could lead to meaningful collaborations in the future 🤝

I'm working with a business coach now. I always had the "I'll do it when I'm earning more" attitude, but it came home that this may be that first step to getting there. I already have a couple of new projects on the books because of it 🤗
