It makes me a little angry and more than a little sad that there aren't very many people in this space celebrating what should be a Massive Day for Columbus sports.

Andy Ginther & HSG spoiled another million dollar opportunity.

And HSG isn't even the majority owner of the NWSL franchise!

Why is my feed always the place where normies find out that most professors don’t have health insurance and that disorganised prof you hated freshman year had no teaching experience and no one told them where the copy machine was?

What I’m saying is I’m available to do comms for your faculty union

They're putting the biggest game of the year for the USWNT in a 7,000 seat stadium?

The NWSL has agreed to add an 18th team in Columbus, Ohio, owned by Haslam Sports Group

The group has agreed to pay a record $205 million expansion fee, per @sportico.bsky.social

It’s certainly heresy. There’s actual doctrines and creeds and theology involved.

We still don’t understand dark matter or how gravity and quantum physics fit together, so even our logic has limits!

Light is particularly rascally: the double slit experiment on wave/particle duality, the way it behaves under observation… it’s all very humbling!

A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Magyar Péter (Ne féljetek), with the handle @magyarpeterMP. The post reads:
"Until 31 May, the Orbán puppets may voluntarily step down from their positions. This applies to the President of Hungary, the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Prosecutor General.
On 12 April, the Hungarian people voted for a complete political transformation.
If these officials do not step down voluntarily by 31 May, then — on the basis of the mandate received from millions of Hungarians — we will remove them from office."
At the bottom, the timestamp reads "3:04 AM • Apr 21, 2026" alongside "19.9K Views".

Peter Magyar is not playing around at all. He's going to purge every single remnant of corrupt Orbanism. This is exactly how Dems need to be when they retake power.

Republicans, for their part, have cast the push for a new map as a Democratic power grab.

“Richmond liberals want to eliminate competitive elections in Virginia,” says an ad from Virginians for Fair Maps, the main Republican-aligned outside group in Virginia.

A more correct way to write this is: "Republicans, who famously love gerrymandering in every other case, are flooding Democratic and Black voters' phones and mailboxes with ratfucking mailers and texts falsely claiming that Obama, Spanberger, and the DNC are against the ballot measure."

What is "remarkable," @nytnickc.bsky.social, is that it didn't even occur to you to ask, hey, why are there these mid-decade redistrictings happening in the first place? What did Trump say the goal of them were?

Kinda weird isn't it? Kinda weirder than a "Dems are hypocrites!!?!" angle?

I think artichokes should have a shade of purple named after them. It is such a stunning color!

Ed is correct. In fact Davy at first suggested "alumium" before switching to "aluminum". Anyway, nice to meet you too.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Everything else aside, this level of discourse from a world public figure is without equal nowadays.

CONCACAF qualifiers are set. The US and Canada will be joined by Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, and Panama. There should be some fun matchups in November.

indeed, many will fold to fascism with an alacrity that's both unnerving & embarrassing

It’s… inconvenient. I mostly get it, while also it would be a whole lot nicer if they had lockers or something outside. When people get turned away for handbags and batteries it’s an awfully long way back.

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.
