Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine.

A screenshot of a text excerpt from a court proceeding, showing a conversation between Judge Reyes and Jason C. Lynch about an executive order that defines “sex” strictly as male or female. Judge Reyes challenges this definition, noting that there are roughly 30 different intersex variations and citing examples such as XXX chromosomes, androgen insensitivity, and five-alpha reductase deficiency. Judge Reyes emphasizes that not everyone fits neatly into an XX or XY pattern, concluding that the executive order’s premise—that there are only two sexes—is biologically incorrect.

Blumenthal: "What world is he living in? It is not only contrary to the facts and the truth but utterly despicable. A disgusting betrayal of a country that has bled and fought and died for freedom ... the president's surrender is pathetic and weak."

I disagree with this. I’m not convinced by the whole learning to learn and unlearn and relearn industry. People have been doing this far longer than we appreciate. It’s not new and isn’t really a thing.

Scotland’s schools are accused of ‘harming pupils permanently’ with curriculum Professor Lindsay Paterson talks to our Writer at Large about the decline and fall of the once great Scottish school

“We’re producing less literate, less numerate people than society used to… What we expect by the end of primary school is weaker than what was expected in the past.”

A fascinating read from @NeilMackay speaking to Prof Lindsay Paterson.

Hi Aaron. I wonder if you could point me towards publications/articles which advocate for/provide evidence in support of play in upper primary. How it differs, best practice examples, risks/benefits, etc. Thanks in advance…

Speaking as a primary teacher in Scotland, it is staggering the amount of time that teachers spend reinventing the curriculum, including in areas where we are not subject specialists. High quality, centrally produced resource could bring huge benefits, including to the experience of the children.

East Lothian Council confirmed they’ve only had ‘one informal brief discussion/meeting’ with the Scottish Government about teacher numbers since 2022, with ‘no minutes or notes’ taken.

They also state workforce planning discussions ‘are not routinely held’ with the Scottish Government or COSLA.

This really impacted my understanding of so many aspects of human behaviour. It was recommended to me by a wonderful, precocious P7 pupil (Year 6) - I bought it and couldn’t believe how insightful it was and how far ahead of me in his thinking this child must have been!!!

I suppose it’s also fair to say that our judgements aren’t quite as high stakes as the example given: viral infection vs cancer. Thankfully…

I really like this resource. One of those resources which immediately prompts thinking on the part of children, whether they want or not! You can’t help but engage.

Interesting comparison. I agree to an extent but I think teachers are forced to rely on even less trustworthy evidence than doctors in most cases - learning vs performance, social interference, etc.
