Committee chair and UCP backbencher Brandon Lunty (yes, he is the chair of two major legislative committees in the spotlight today) told reporters he’s going to make sure they can co-ordinate a schedule as soon as possible, but he didn’t commit to a deadline.

UCP MLA Lunty, committee chair overseeing the new review, said he was disappointed the NDP would politicize it and frame it "in a way that risks undermining the confidence in a process that is clearly designed to establish and prioritize the independence of the advisory panel."

This is the scrum with Brandon Lunty and reporters today in the Alberta legislature. He’s the UCP MLA tasked with overseeing the Alberta government’s re-do of the Electoral Boundaries commission report, with the help of a new panel.
Alberta's UCP sending proposed riding changes somewhat back to drawing board.
First proposals were controversial, namely for being multiple. Minority UCP appointee report raised eyebrows, and this move raises more.

Another @jack-farrell.bsky.social appreciation post: the UCP messaging today really focused on the importance of establishing 91 ridings (as opposed to the current 87). The track to 89 that we were once on was laid in 2024, by the UCP. Read this throwback www.thecanadianpressnews.ca/prairies_bc/...
The (previous) #ableg electoral boundaries commission report is a bit of a beast, and there was some real spin today. But I have @jack-farrell.bsky.social -- if you want to understand what happened and what's changing, this piece takes you by the hand

An email from Alberta Election Commissioner Paula Hale to journalist Deirdre MacLean. "I write to inform you of the outcorne of your cornplaint that the Honourable Minister Dale Nally used the list of electors inappropriately when he provided his member's response on November 17, 2025, to the recall petitbn that had been approved. I have concluded my investigation. I have reviewed all the evidence collected and considered section 20 of the Election Act, which, in my view, is intended to protect the personal information of electors. I find that Minister Nally had accessed the List of Electors for a purpose not authorized by the Election Act; however, I acknowledge that there is ambiguity about whether the use of the List of Electors would have been appropriate in these circumstances. Accordingly, my decision is to close the file without issuing a letter of reprimand or an administrative penalty. Instead, Minister Nally was provided advice to support his future use of the List of Electors. As required by section 54(2Xa) of the Recall Act and section 153.091 (5) of the Election Act, this is your notice of investigation outcorne. My Office will be taking no further action, and this matter is concluded."
Elections Alberta finds that yes, Dale Nally did violate the Elections Act when he pulled voter records in order to attack the credibility of an organizer of a petition against him. But there will be no penalty. The commissioner feels the Act is ambiguous enough that Nally might have been confused.
