It really is!! Honestly it might be worth it to simply buy yourself some more star trek mints & get a new perfectly sized box.

Hilariously I also have this exact tin 😂. You could always get another one, but my others are repurposed from sets of stitch markers/sewing supplies. (The most fun answer is to look for fancy old cigarette or pill boxes at flea markets, but that's a longer-term one.)

Two Mourning Doves at a bird feeder with a built-in camera. One dove is in profile, very close to the camera, and appears to be looking at it, and the other dove is further back, but also looks like it’s staring straight into the lens.

These two Mourning Doves at my feeder cam look like they just rang my doorbell because Tony Soprano sent them to collect a debt I owe.

Well that will depend on the baby, if we’re talking ease, but it seems like a solid “plausible” !

I am never forgetting at the first anime con I ever went to in like 2007, there was someone selling a print of Light and L from Death Note naked and dramatically reaching toward each other across a flower and the artist put a big sticky note on it that said "NOT YAOI - SYMBOLISM"

At its core, the political economy of scholarship was never supposed to rely on ~$50k from a smelting fortune. Institutions have hollowed out their support, the feds have done the same, and all that's left is inadequate private funding.

I would bet real money he was at a not insignificant number of these concerts, also, which is another nice layer!

My high school politics & culture teacher turned friend would have been so overjoyed to dive into this. Honestly he probably would have made a whole new class based just on it, & man, it's really nice to see a current headline that would have made him happy for a change.

I've spent a not insignificant amount of time listening to these today. Man, this is so cool. The world is so full of devoted weirdos! Thank goodness! THANK GOODNESS! kottke.org/26/04/online...

i feel insane, to be seeing the photos of the earth from the moon, THE MOON IN THE SKY, and seeing how small we are, and seeing how beautiful things could be, and to have such a small, pathetic man and his small minority be such a threat to our beautiful home!! our, the whole of people, all of us!!!

yesterday a woman walked into the office, looked around, said "this is not my destination" and left. I keep thinking about her. I hope you made it, queen

if you, like me!, forgot to plant native milkweed(s) in the fall, throw the packets in your freezer now, take out in 30 days or after your final frost, whichever comes last, then sow in your garden. Monarchs breed all summer! Plant coneflowers, goldenrod & asters too for food & migration!

I preordered a copy of this to go directly to my local books-to-prisoners program! They get a number of requests from trans people, and it's nice to have something to send that is joyous and fun.

I've now seen several posts from Democratic US Senators and House Reps calling for Congress to return to DC, and my only reaction to seeing these is: Do it. Just get on a plane and go back to DC. The House is in Recess, not adjourned. There was a pro forma session today. Go. Lead by example.

Excerpt from the nonfiction piece HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE by Jackie Hedeman on a blurred blue background. Quote: I drove the seven hours to visit her chewing on stick after stick of wintergreen Extra. I nearly shat myself, barely mking it to the first Kum & Go over the Minnesota state line. The source of all this tumult was a very prosaic thing: I'd never dated before and I didn't know what I was supposed to do.

The moment we read "He Is Survived by His Wife" by @jackiehedeman.bsky.social, we knew this stunning essay would be the perfect closer for Issue 1. How do you want to be remembered? How do you want to be loved? 💜

An opposition party would not be on vacation right now. They would have coordinated message to the public about the fact that a President in cognitive decline is threatening more war crimes. They would be BLASTING the message on all available platforms.
