Folks are rightly alarmed and baffled at Reform's manifesto pledge to ideologically intervene in arms length bodies. Classic of their distraction from the everyday concerns of voters, like paying rent, hearing their homes etc.
But this obsession with chronological order is another Tory rehash >

A poster for an upcoming talk by Marco Bernardi, a historian from the University of Turin, for Archaeologists Resisting Far-Right Appropriation's seminar series. The presentation is titles 'La Scuola E' Nostra: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it - is it really so? Some reflections on teaching based on the case of Italian students and historical fascism.' The presentation will be on the 16th April at 17:30 BST.
We are excited to announce our first seminar of 2026! Dr Marco Bernardi will reflect on approaches to teaching and historical fascism - vital for anyone negotiating pedagogical approaches to countering the far-right. For more details and to register: archaeologistsrfa.wordpress.com/events/.
Look out for more upcoming work on this project, and check out our hosts here: fword.unito.it and here: easaonline.org/networks/ant.... Understanding far-right movements is a necessarily interdisciplinary project.
Excited to have shared ongoing research at the 2-3 Feb 'Theorising Fascism' workshop run by AnthroFa and the F-WORD project, highlighting digital ethnographic methods for better understanding the far-right digital co-option of archaeogenetic research through memes, particularly around the Yamna.
🐦🔥 Hello folks! 🐦🔥 We've been busy over the past few months with new research projects and the publication of our first paper (more on that soon!). Checking back in here to let you know that our spring seminar series will be starting up soon, along with some other plans. Solidarity and see you soon.
Thanks @lornarichardson.bsky.social! This chimes a lot with what we're working on atm. Application inbound.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️
This Friday, conference in Valencia Spain on Antiquity and the Extreme Right in Europe and the US in the 21st century, hosted by @anihoproject.bsky.social

All those who signed up to attend today's seminar with @cultarchaeo.bsky.social should have now received a link to attend. If you haven't received the link, email us at archaeologistsrfa@proton.me. Otherwise, look out for the recorded version in the next couple of weeks. See you soon!

🚨 NEW SEMINAR ALERT 🚨
On 14/10 Steph Halmhofer (@cultarchaeo.bsky.social) will speak on 'Manufacturing History', examining the relationship between pseudoarchaeology, conspiracy, and the far-right and highlighting its contemporary relevance. Go to archaeologistsrfa.wordpress.com/events/ to register.
Also - not knowing how to get involved is hard and very normal. Students and scholars of the past looking for help, check out @drdanstewart1.bsky.social's compilation of advice from @blacktrowel.bsky.social here: bsky.app/profile/drda...
This is unacceptable, but also predictable - the most recent in a long line of institutional and governmental failures to stand up to the far-right. Instead, remember We Keep Us Safe. Look for ways to support the most marginalised, fold antifascist praxis into your work, find your role and organise.
Urgently useful stuff, thank you @drdanstewart1.bsky.social
Ok, 3rd time's the charm, eh?

New form to sign the petition for a Special Meeting of the EAA (to discuss the genocide in Gaza and the handling of the situation by the Executive Board). Previous one was reported and taken down by Google for "violating its terms". Wonder who reported it?🤔 #eaa2025
EAA members, sign to call for a special meeting to hold the Executive Board to account. When elements of our discipline are being used to justify apartheid and genocide, we need institutions (and members) to clearly and loudly condemn and work against this. Archaeology is political. Eyes on Gaza. 🍉
“We do archaeology because we care about people in the past and people in the present, and oppose the violent destruction of lives and heritage … interference with a democratic process to overturn a decision like this is unacceptable.”
Solidarity with BTC and others holding EAA to account.

As archaeologists, we understand the ephemerality of borders and the importance of migration to all of our lives. We encourage our followers to resist as you are able: attend counter-protests, support migrant orgs, engage in anti-racist and decolonial praxis in your research and work.
Attacks on hotels housing asylum seekers do nothing to ‘protect communities’ and everything to further endanger some of the most marginalised people in the UK. The evidence shows that they are facilitated by violent white supremacists (see @hopenothate.org.uk) and stoked by racist rhetoric.
Thank you so much to everyone who was able to make it to this evening's seminar, particularly those who contributed such insightful comments and questions, and to @archaeodeathprof.bsky.social for a thought-provoking and inspiring presentation. We'll see you soon.
