🚨Industry has been lobbying to remove leather from the EUDR. This would scrap requirements for hides to be deforestation-free, so leather linked to deforestation could continue to enter the EU.
We’ve shown that this leather has been linked to forest loss in Brazil & Paraguay 👇 bit.ly/4sLS4Ui
The EUDR would ensure that EU leather supply chains do not contribute to deforestation in the Amazon, but the leather industry is lobbying EU lawmakers for an exemption. If granted, this would greenlight the continued import of leather from cattle raised on deforested land.
