Today our Vice Chair @tracygilbertmp.bsky.social led a debate in Parliament on sex trafficking in Scotland.

Tracy revealed she has written to Police Scotland to report websites advertising prostitution for violating Scotland's anti-trafficking law. The max penalty is life. 👇

These changes reflect the reality that online pornography is fuelling the epidemic of violence against women and girls, encouraging a sexual interest in children, and facilitating commercial sexual exploitation, including trafficking.

▪️ Grant powers to the Government to require pornography websites to proactively verify the age and consent of those featured on their sites – and allow for the retrospective withdrawal of that consent.

▪️ Ban pornographic content depicting strangulation or suffocation
▪️ Ban pornographic content in which performers role-play as children
▪️ Ban pornographic content that features step-incest, where one performer appears to be underage

I was glad, therefore, to have yesterday secured vital changes to the way we regulate online pornography.

As a result of amendments tabled by me in the Commons and Baroness Bertin in the Lords, the Crime and Policing Bill will now:

It trains brains to link dopamine and endorphin production to violent, degrading, and in some cases paedophilic-adjacent content.

And from Wayne Couzens to Dominique Pelicot, we know how the consumption of online sexualised violence can turn into offline violence.

Online pornography is not just entertainment, it has become a harmful form of education.

It promotes the idea that pain for women is pleasure for men.

It instils the notion that to be close to a woman is to dominate or degrade her.

Important news: Today, the UK Government has tabled an amendment to the Crime & Policing Bill giving it the power to force p*rnography websites to verify everyone in their videos is an adult, gave permission for the video to be published and can later withdraw their consent. 1/3

Too right it does.

In 26 days' time we will:

✅Abolish Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions.
✅Introduce periodic tenancies.
✅Limit rent increases to once a year.
✅Ban rental bidding and rent in advance.
✅Make discrimination against renters who have children or receive benefits illegal.

I have consistently raised issues that the legislation to introduce assisted dying in England and Wales as drafted is not workable or safe. Members of both Houses have constructively sought to propose amendments but the proposers of the Bill have failed to accept them.

Property company denies trying to mass-evict tenants before England’s no-fault evictions ban Exclusive: Housing minister wrote to Criterion Capital seeking urgent answers after MP said it issued at least 130 section 21 notices

Our Renters’ Rights Act will see Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions abolished on 1 May in 37 days’ time.

It would be utterly shameful for any landlord to attempt to use it to evict tenants en masse before that date.

New: @internetmatters.bsky.social finds children now spend 23 hours online a week, up 7 hours since 2022.

Crucially, 68% of children report experiencing at least one form of harm online.

It’s clear that we need to follow other countries and ensure that the age of online consent is increased to 16.

Delighted to see the Government announce new guidance for councils on how to make streets safer for women and girls.

I led a debate on this in January and I am glad that the Government is listening to the women being pushed out of the public realm for fear of their safety.

Labour has halved the cost of childcare, and now we’re doing even more to make high-quality early years education more accessible and affordable.

We’re cutting the cost of living and giving children the best start in life.

Just had this flagged with me. This is disgusting.

If Kemi Badenoch had one ounce of leadership in her, she would condemn this.

I don’t want any faux sadness from her or Nick Timothy when one of us is hurt or worse.

This is how low the Conservative Party have sunk.
