Or, hear me out, you can ask the help feature to show you how its done in the same natural language and evade the kinds of errors produced by spicy autocomplete.

The meaningful innovation is being able to query the program in natural language, not having the error prone machine do it for you.

on the one hand, we're apparently big enough to be a valid target now

on the other hand, we're apparently not big enough to actually spend any time on before targeting us because they clearly have not seen this site's takes on the war

you're only supposed to upload non-free images to wikimedia commons as a last resort (even when the pics would clearly fall under "fair use"). and some editors end up explaining their reasoning VERY thoroughly when doing so

all my old spelling bee trophies are on one of my bookshelves... at my dad's place there's a shelf with all of my dad and brother's karate tournament trophies. Dad's old shooting trophies are in a display cabinet with random stuff. Most have a figure on top either doing a kick or shooting a rifle

Tweet by “Secretary of War” Pete Hegseth:
“The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force.
We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.”
Below there is a video of the announcement for his many, many illiterate fans

Behind Hegseth’s big stupid face, a painting can be seen.

The painting is of George Washington crossing the Delaware. It is by Emanuel Leutze.

An article from the National Parks Service: Smallpox,
Inoculation, and the Revolutionary War
Boston National Historical Park
During the 1700s, smallpox raged through the American colonies and the Continental Army. Smallpox impacted the Continental Army severely during the Revolutionary War, so much so that George Washington mandated inoculation for all Continental soldiers in 1777. Just fifty-six years earlier, in 1721, Bostonian doctors and clergy introduced the procedure to the American colonies.
Without the vision and determination of these early Bostonians in normalizing inoculation, Washington may not have made the decision to mandate inoculation for the Continental Army. Though it was a controversial action, many historians credit the medical mandate with the colonists' victory in the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America.

(1/X) People sometimes wonder how things got so crazy in this country. Well, look back at the '90s: for Clinton impeachment, you had Alan Dershowitz on Geraldo arguing against impeachment and Jon Turley arguing for it. All three of course became Trumpers.

On various topics around feminism....

This is genuinely one of the foundational copes of the modern conservative movement, a stabbed-in-the-back narrative about why the US lost Vietnam

The conservative intelligentsia is just wildly, cartoonistly racist, and the fact that this gets less elite pushback from the prestige media/commentariat than "woke" does is such a damning indictment of our whole society.

It bears repeating that historically, the #1 thing that keeps people alive in hard times and disasters is “the ability to play well with others”

The cyberattack on The British Library in October 2023 knocked out ebooks and almost ever other computer thing there for years.

Ebooks just came back. They were knocked out everywhere using the BL’s license (legal deposit libraries I think? More libraries?)

Distributed physical copies matter.

Meme with a photo of a fountain drink machine with a cup sitting under two nozzles (red and blue), a hand pushing both buttons at once and liquid coming from both nozzles. The blue (left) drink is labelled "grateful for the insight I have gained from all my experiences" and the red (right) drink is labelled "still thinks some of that sh*t should not have happened". The hand is labelled "me".

Discussion of this game and seeing trailers sent me into a bit of a depressive spiral remembering the series of dreams I had years ago set in a now-past future where I had a daughter, and how I am constantly aware how bad the odds are becoming of my ever having kids. Wrongest anyone's ever been

 27. Even after stealth-editing their headline over the weekend, in a feable
attempt to reduce the appearance of partisan animus, Defendants have doubled
 Case 1:26-cv-01329 Document 1 Filed 04/20/26 Page 10 of 19
down on their knowingly false claims in an X post, made this very morning in the
 pre-dawn hours that reads:
Kash Patel's colleagues are alarmed by what they say is erratic
behavior and excessive drinking, Sarah Fitzpatrick reports. More than
two dozen people she spoke with described his management failures
and conduct that could harm national security.?
As discussed above, these claims about erratic behavior and excessive drinking are
fabricated, and Defendants were on notice of this. As dicussed below, Fitzpatrick
knows that her anonymous sources, unwilling to go on the record, are partisans
with axes to grind and are not in a position to know the facts.
