Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.

Four Seasons as Body Parts

Spring as lips that’ve just been kissed
Summer, a hot hand on your hip
Autumn as nipples that twist under jumpers
Winter, cold fingers creeping in

What’s left of men when they kill off the softest parts of themselves?

De Marcken’s experimentalism meets the intensity of both feeling and concept of Kang’s ‘Human Acts’, GRUNT explores the consequences of patriarchy and war through a surreal descent into a shattered psyche.

GRUNT is a novel of war, opioids and PTSD. A kaleidoscopic look at masculinity and addiction. A surreal descent into a shattered psyche. Law, a US veteran, has a pig heart transplant. Soon he starts to lose himself in flashbacks; in strange, squealing dreams. #scotwriterpitch2025

The novel speaks to the quiet bravery of loving someone through hopelessness. I love the world Kazuo Ishiguro created in order to focus in on the delinquent romance of doomed young lovers. It’s a world I come back to frequently, anytime I sense my heart needs breaking.
