It’s honestly pointless at this juncture to list all the records BTS have broken. Suffice it to say, whether you love them or not, they are the most famous group to come out of Korea and have become are a brand name that represents excellence.

"When I was younger and living in New York, especially playing in Central Park, I’d get challenged all the time by local players. These days, it’s less common, but every now and then someone will joke about it. I usually tell them it might not be the smartest idea." -Patrick McEnroe
Ugh, I'm the worst. I just saw this. Thank you, Tamar!
It's not on the cover of @rollingstone.com, but my TWS article is featured in the April issue of the magazine's Future 25 issue. (It is online as well. 👇)

“I play Francesca, the funniest sister-cousin you wish you had. She is a sassy, confident, fun, loving woman who adores Michael, played by Regé-Jean Page, and becomes close to Anna, played by Halle Bailey, whom she confides all the family gossip to.” —Stella Pecollo of “You, Me & Tuscany”
"I lived in Miami Beach for over 10 years back in the 1990s, but I am always so excited to go back there and feel that sticky hot and humid air. The beaches, relaxed style of living, great place for fitness and the night life makes it my number one choice."

Yes! And she isn't afraid to speak her mind about anything!
Thank you!
Agreed. Soooo good!
It was so good. Park Bo-young has done some really nice work exploring mental health issues in her latest shows.
In the west, this K-drama is billed as OUR UNWRITTEN SEOUL. But the direct translation of the Korean title — “미지의 서울” — is “Mi-ji’s Seoul.” The latter is a more accurate description of what this show is about. [This is only one of two shows that I graded as a perfect score in 2025.]
Do you remember Stella Choe's WHAT KIND OF ASIAN ARE YOU? The actor/dancer, who has starred opposite Keanu Reeves, said that one of her most moving performances was at this year's Oscars, where she did a traditional Korean dance for the prologue of "Golden." More in my latest newsletter.

"We went to Venice, we went to the Dolomites and we went to Rome, because [my husband] Anthony's family is in Rome. We did that trip, which was absolutely sensational. The Dolomites are like nothing I've ever seen in my entire life." - Joanne Lee Molinaro (aka The Korean Vegan)

Oooh, what a great introduction to his work!
Watching Train to Busan again. I love this film so much. Yes, it's a gory zombie film. But there is so much humanity in it, too.
What??? You don't want to be spoilered?! 😛
"Japan in the winter is one of my favorite places in the world. Every time I go, it feels like there’s more to discover. I’m also a big food person and Japan has some of my favorite food." -Chloe Qisha, @chicagotribune.com
BTS: THE RETURN offers insight into the pressures faced by the superstar group as they came back from military service to make their new album, ARIRANG. In one vignette, Jin sings a snippet of “Arirang.” That would've made a compelling coda on their new album.
“I love listening to those old-school songs that were released before I was born,” YOUNGJAE says. “People have told us they're reminded of their own youth when they listen to some of our songs, which can be very fulfilling. It gives us a lot of confidence.”

Had a confrontation on my walk earlier today. This grown man pushing 40 talked like an immature angry teen throwing the F bomb every other word. I wanted to 씨발 새끼야 him so badly. Instead, I walked away and went to the library and read all the magazines.
Thank you so much!
"Railay Beach is a stunning car-free peninsula in the Krabi region in the south of Thailand. Turquoise water, white sand, towering limestone cliffs. Railay really stuck out to me for the serenity that it has." -Marco Grazzini in the Sunday @chicagotribune.com
Six years cancer-free. 💙 The 1990s seem like yesterday. Truth be told, I miss being less creaky. But this Maudlin Crone™ is truly grateful to be alive and still at it in 2026. Here's to 30 more years!

"Golden" from KPOP DEMON HUNTERS has won an Oscar & a Grammy. But some K-pop fans want to know, is the song really K-pop? I dig into this with an academic as we discuss what defines K-pop as we know it today.
