This is a joke of course, I actually love walking with my kid. Even if his lack of self-preservation instincts does make it harder than your average escort quest.

Sorry for the posting drought, my mental health has been feeling pretty off lately, and I finally realized it’s because I have a difficult anniversary coming up. Take care of yourselves, look after your mental health, and enjoy this picture of my therapist modelling some of my wares.

As a warmup on stream the other night, I added a new pride flag to my repertoire: the Aroace Flag! It’s one I wasn’t super familiar with until recently, but inspired by a friend I decided to make sure it ended up joining the rest of my pride flag keychains!

Last night for St Paddy’s Day, I made a chainmail shamrock on stream! I didn’t have enough of the right sized rings in green, so it’s a bit of a mix of green, gold and silver. It was also more of a pain in the butt to make than I expected. Pattern by Ring Lord.

Three key chains in the style I call “Dragon Tails”, consisting of a small split ring, a short section of Byzantine weave, and three small scales arranged to splay out on the end. The scales and rings are all made from anodized aluminum. These three are all in different colour schemes: the left is purple and pink, the middle is blue and green, and the right is pink and red. They are laid flat on a neutral fabric background.

They are all going to be normal stock for sale, except the last set; those were made specifically in the colours of a friend’s character, and will be sent to him as soon as I figure out the least expensive way to ship them to Australia! :P

A photo showing the ridiculous set-up I have for streaming Nintendo games. A wooden corner TV stand with several shelves and the TV on top, attached to one of the shelves (which contains my Xbox and various games and dvds) is an adjustable ring-light and phone stand clamped in place, holding my phone out in front where it can see the tv screen. The phone is plugged into a battery pack resting on the shelf. The TV is displaying the starting screen for Super Mario Party Jamboree, while the phone screen has a “Starting soon” logo currently streaming.

Last night I wanted to stream some Mario Party for Mario Day, but I don’t actually have a proper computer or capture card to stream straight off the Switch, so… I had to improvise. It’s super janky, but it worked!

This short video shows the difference that 1/32 of an inch can make. The pink Celtic Stars was made with the “wrong” size in the centre, while the blue was made with the smaller “correct” size. I like both for different purposes.

…and is much more rigid, like I expected them to be. But if I hadn’t used the wrong size, I may never have thought to use them in this design, and I’m really happy with these! Bob Ross was right: no mistakes, just happy little accidents!

Two chainmail ornaments in the Celtic Star pattern, made from anodized aluminum rings. The top one is in shades of pink and silver, while the bottom one is in shades of blue and silver. They are lying together on a neutral fabric background.

Funny enough, one size of ring that I’ve been using for the Celtic Stars turned out to be a slightly bigger size than I thought they were, and that’s why they were turning out much looser than I expected. The blue was done in the “correct” sizes,…

A chainmail hand-flower bracelet, made from anodized aluminum rings in various shades of green and silver. A five point Celtic star is the centrepiece, laying with a point straight back towards the wrist. That and the two adjacent points are connected by fine chains to a wide bracelet in the European 4-in-1 style, while the final two points have matching chains forming loops that go around the index and ring fingers. Modelled by myself against a neutral cloth background.

The fruits of last night’s stream! I made three Celtic Stars, and then turned one into a hand flower bracelet! The pink one will also become a hand flower, but the blue will probably become a pendant.

A close-up of the newly repaired and improved collar closure section and leaf shaped clasp on my Elven cloak costume piece. The cloak is made from a neutral grey-green fabric. The clasp is a metal and green enamel pin made in the image of the Lothlorien leaf clasps from The Lord of the Rings. The corners of the closure section have been overlapped and sewn together, with the pin permanently fixed in place overtop of the seams.

…the cloak itself, it never needs to come off again. If the handy-man’s secret weapon is duct tape, then the cosplayer’s secret weapon is hot glue! As long as it isn’t visible, then it’s no problem!
Now I have a much more secure and permanent cloak closure, and I think it looks better too!

A close-up view of my hand holding the clasp of my Elven cloak costume piece. The cloak is made from a neutral grey-green fabric. The clasp is a metal and green enamel pin made in the image of the Lothlorien leaf clasps from The Lord of the Rings, though only visible edge-on in this picture. Now affixed in place over the sewn together closure of the cloak, the metal pin has been hot-glued shut to secure it. A large blob of glue covers the end of the pin and the mechanism to hold it shut. The white cardboard background is my hot-gluing surface.

…lifted over the head and never unpinned anyways, so it’s perfectly reasonable to just fasten them permanently. This also hid the hole worn by the leaf pin back when it was inappropriately load-bearing. Then I positioned the leaf broach over top, and hot-glued it shut, as likewise to…

The collar closure section of my Elven cloak costume piece, now sewn together securely with two lines of grey thread, running along and just under the seam where the hood is attached to the body of the cloak. The cloak is made from a neutral grey-green fabric, and is sitting on a wooden floor.

An inner view of the collar closure section of my Elven cloak costume piece, now sewn together securely with two lines of grey thread, running along and just under the seam where the hood is attached to the body of the cloak. The new stitching is hard to see on this side, as the inner hems are still somewhat messy, though not nearly as bad as before. The hole worn by the clasp is still visible on this side, but is in the overlapping section of fabric, so as to not be visible on the outside. …what I was doing as a tailor; as opposed to now, when I have improved to barely any idea what I’m doing. 😂
To fix all this, I removed the fasteners completely, (and trimmed up the frayed threads) and simply sewed the corners of the collar section together. Historically, many cloaks were simply…
